I just want to share this article written by someone who apparently is an ETHS alumnus. I imagine many have experienced what the author expresses in the article - on both sides of the color line.

"to me, a 8-1 City Council vote ain't too controversial, for muh home town of muh formative years.  i'm often again proud of that town of our high school.  and i owe my sensitivity to this decision to my high school, reading A Peculiar Institution in what junior year history?  a most beautiful 10% of student population, 70% on some sports teams.  my brother.  and soul music, so much of rock & roll's origins, and surely jazz.  it, not Orrington School, was my lifelong introduction to the beauty and power of black, which i've found everywhere in thuh world i've been since.
