I first remember Anne from 9th grade @ TJ.  We were both in Mrs. Ward Latin class - Hic Hik Hoc whatever that means and also Mr, Vogel's - I can't remember what he taught but I remember Anne - Always such a pretty girl.  In high school I only saw her at sports events where she was part of the cheering squad.  Our paths crossed after high school when I was working in Montvale and she was doing her insurance thing in FL.  I would head down the GSP and meet her for lunch.  She was such a great listener.  We both had been divorced.  We dated for a time and then Linford caught her eye.  Anne was the glue that held out class together.  I wouldn't have gone to as many reunions if it wasn't for Anne.  Over the years we exchanged Christmas card and emails during the year.  I will truly miss Anne.  May she rest in peace..

I didn't know Anne well until the reunions.  It was always comfortable to speak with her about our lives in different states.  Judy Cardone & I were on vacation in Atlantic City so we called Anne to invite her for a get together at casino.  We all had a wonderful time together that day laughing & reminiscing over our lives!  We all have lost a true treasure but will always remain in our personal memories!  Anne would be proud that I finally joined the site today🫢.  RIP dear Anne

Anne was a very pleasant and caring person.  I'll definitely miss her Happy Birthday wishes every year.  Really devoted to The Class of '61.  Friends since Warren Point and the Blue Hill neighborhood.  The Greatest Cheerleader.  My deepest condolences to Anne's Family.  Rest In Peace Annie O'Neill

A big loss to this world, her family, dear friends and to all of us. Kind, caring, and beautiful inside and out.  Anne kept in touch with all of us, for our birthdays, for reunions. She made it all happen. She knew us. Others stated that she was "the glue" that kept us together all these years. I loved to watch her cheering on the field or gym floor. She was a natural. There is a new star in the sky with sparkly blue eyes, a warm smile, and I am certain the best dancer up there.

Such sad and unexpected news for me.  Anne and I were good friends at FLHS and became even better friends through the many reunions that she arranged and through our annual birthday emails.  In high school she was always full of happiness and spirit, and in my mind she will always be the spirit of the Class of '61. I will miss her.

I knew about Anne O’Neill in third grade.  She was in my mother’s class in Warren Point Elementary, and mom would talk about her often during dinner. She turned out to be one of Mom’s all-time favorite students. She was in Mom’s class again in fifth grade, so by the time she was in my class in TJ, (Section 7-13 for the record), I felt as though I knew her already.

She was a wonderful part of our class: her quick wit, her friendliness, and her athletic ability made her a standout. We were also together in 8-8, where we founded a town named Sequoia, Oregon, and  again in 9-1 where Mrs. Ward made us love learning Latin, warning us all as we left her class, “Ite, sed AMBULATE!” (Go, but walk!). I don’t remember being in any classes with her in high school, but I certainly remember how she would get crowds going at football games with her spirited cheerleading.  Our paths didn’t cross again for decades after that, but somewhere  in the ‘90s, Rita Curtis (Meyer), Irene Stoddard (Dietz),  and Anne and I would drive from Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey twice a year to get together for lunch in Delaware. They were always grand reunions.  I have been stunned by her death.  May she rest in peace,  knowing how deeply her friends miss her.

Anne, you are gone and have taken with you the heart and soul of the class of '61.  You are still with us and will be forever.  I hope that you are sitting next to the throne of God for that is where you belong.  Thank you for never forgetting my birthday.  Yes, your were more precious than all the gold in world.

Anne ONeill —What a wonderful person! She really was the node that held our class together. She knew everyone. She and I became friends 40 years after graduation, when I finally began showing up for Class of '61 reunions. Our brothers (both Class of '60) traveled in the same social circles, and after they both passed, Anne proposed that we should get together. We've been friends ever since between semi-annual get togethers, zoom meetings, and many lengthy emails. Life was not always easy for Anne, but she met all challeges with grace and courage. So vibrant and strong, it was a shock to see her health deteriorate, and more difficult to accept that we must go on without her indomitable spirit to keep us moored.

Anne was such a kind person. Anne visited Alixe regularly when she was in the memory care facility-once a week usually. When  she was there, she would call me and hand Alixe her phone so that she could talk to me. It was bittersweet because I was never convinced that Alixe knew to whom she was speaking. I loved them both.

Anne, If I could see and talk to you now I'd give you a big hug.

I'd say: remember the exciting times we had in the city and when Peachie drove us... Oy Vey !  We would go to Trudy Hellers and periodically Johnny Mathis would come by and sing a song or two. We felt like grownups yet young & fearless maybe clueless also.... smilin.... Regardless we certainly knew how to have a good time together !!!

Memories treasured of you visiting me in Austin when I lived there and remembering the reunions and our friendship in High School are all mounting up in my head.

You will continue wherever you are to stay close to my heart dear Anne.

The best is wished to your beautiful family and to my classmates I say: take good good care.

With plenty of love,

Marci
