Raylene Haalelea Kawaiaea

Raylene “Tutu” “Kumu” Haalelea Kawaiaea, 61, of Kapaau died March 9 at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, she was a building facilitator for Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center. She was a preserver of the Hawaiian culture. She was the founder of Na Huapala O Hawaii Halau O Haalelea Hula Halau and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kamehameha Park Gym in Kapaau, Kohala, for a 3 p.m. memorial service. Condolences may be sent to Maile Hawkins at P.O. Box 4994, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96745. Casual attire; Leis welcome; No flowers.

Survived by sons, Lee (Amber) Lancaster of Vallejo, Calif., Michael (Rachel) Lancaster of Kapaau, Ikaika Lancaster of Vallejo, Calif.; daughters, Maile (Michael) Hawkins of Kailua-Kona and Luana Lancaster of Kapaau; hanai daughters, Mele Pang and Uilani Lorenzo, both of Kapaau; father, Ray (Shayla) Kawaiaea of Haiku, Maui; mother, Elouise Ha‘alelea Yarrow of Fairfield, Calif.; brothers, Duane (Carol Ann) Yarrow of Vacaville, Calif., and Duke (Marla) Yarrow of San Diego, Calif.; sister-in-law, Micki Yarrow of Fairfield, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Raylene Haalelea Kawaiaea (Yarrow, Lancaster), 61, Kapaau, died March 9, 2012 at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu on June 3, 1950, Raylene was a Fairfield High graduate class of 1968.

She was a building facilitator for Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center. She was a preserver of the Hawaiian culture. She was the founder of Na Huapala O Hawaii Halau O Haalelea Hula Halau and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She is survived by her sons, Lee (Amber) Lancaster of Vallejo, Michael (Rachel) Lancaster of Kapaau, Ikaika Lancaster of Vallejo; daughters, Maile (Michael) Hawkins of Kailua-Kona and Luana Lancaster of Kapaau; hanai daughters, Mele Pang and Uilani Lorenzo, both of Kapaau; parents, Elouise (Harlon) Yarrow of Fairfield, and Raymond (Shyla) of Haiku Maui; brothers, Duane (Carol Ann) Yarrow of Vacaville, Allen (Micki) Yarrow of Fairfield, and Duke (Marla) Yarrow of San Diego; 12 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., April 20, 2012, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 806 Travis Blvd, Fairfield. Condolences may be sent in her memory to Maile Hawkins at P.O.
