Sharon Arnold, 58, of Fairfield, CA, passed away peacefully at home from pancreatic cancer on June 30, 2010, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born on November 23, 1951, in Astoria, OR, the oldest of three daughters born to Charles and the late Patricia McWhorter. Her family moved to CA in 1966 and she was a proud member of the 1970 graduating class of Fairfield High School.
After graduating high school, Sharon began her journey from California to Nevada, Texas, Washington, and then settled back home in California. Sharon raised her family in Winters, CA, where they were very active in the swim team and Little League organizations. In 1986, Sharon moved back to Fairfield, CA, where she spent the rest of her life.
Sharon loved numbers and was great at accounting and taxes. Everyone could count on her at tax time. Her most recent employment was at Automatic Bar Controls in Vacaville, CA, as a Staff Accountant, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a very dedicated and trustworthy employee that you could count on. She was always so proud that her daughters followed in her footsteps, with their strong sense of work ethics and dependability. She always made friends easily and had a way with kind words of encouragement for anyone in need. Sharon volunteered her time for several years for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Antioch, CA.
Sharon had a zest for life and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren more than anything. They brought her so much joy and amusement. She was an avid NASCAR fan, and a lover of #24, Jeff Gordon. Sharon loved cooking, sewing, playing on the computer, listening to books on CD and spending time on her boat, Seagal.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia, youngest sister Jana, and her favorite uncle Ralph Kent.
She is survived by her father, Charles McWhorter of Paradise; daughter and son-in-law Julie and Tony Morales of Napa; daughter and son-in-law Michelle Bussard and Ryan McHale of Vacaville; sister and brother-in-law Carole Fontaine and Matthew McCurdy of Vacaville, grandson Ayden McHale and granddaughter Sophia Morales, and cousins in Michigan and Illinois.
A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, July 17, 2010. Please contact the family for details. In lieu of flowers, Sharon has requested that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at pancan.org.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Please sign the guestbook at www.bryanbraker.com.

I was surprised to learn of Sharon's passing. She had contacted me last April. I am sorry that I will not see her smiling face again. She was a lovely person. We had some good times together in high school.
She will be missed

I was just looking through Classmates In Memory and saw all the classmates that have passed.  And was surprised to learn of her passing.  Sharon was always a sweet and gentle person always a big smile on her face.  Her family lived just around the corner from my family in Dover Terrace.  I used go to her house and play Yahtzee.  She will be missed.  E ho'omaha me ka maluhia (rest in peace).
