Michelle Lyann (Kucala) Burkey
Jan. 27, 1953 — March 26, 2010
Michelle Burkey lost her battle with cancer on March 26, 2010, passing away quietly at home.
She was born to Al and Maggie Kucala, in Tacoma, Washington, on Jan. 27, 1953. She graduated from Vanden High School in 1971 and later attended Solano Community College.
In addition to her parents, Al and Maggie, Michelle is survived by her husband of 21 years, Bruce Burkey; son, Casey Fox (Gina Monderen); daughter, Courtney Lamet; and granddaughter, Desta Fox. She is also survived by her siblings, Steve (Leeanne) Kucala, Mike (Chris) Kucala, Donelle Kucala, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
She participated in many activities throughout the area and was always there to help when needed.
Michelle had a passion for the care of animals and was a fantastic gardener. She was a member of a nationwide aviary community and many people relied on her expertise on Macaws and other exotic birds. Over the years, Michelle rescued and cared for many cats, dogs, birds, and reptiles.
