Mr. John Scott (Industrial Arts)

John R. Scott

Oct. 13, 1941 — March 2, 2019

John R. Scott passed peacefully in the hospital in Folsom surrounded by family March 2, 2019.

John was a loving husband to Charlotte Scott of Fairfield, Trinity Center and now Folsom for 57 years. They lived in town until he retired from teaching both metal shop and photography at Fairfield High for 32 years.

He was blessed to be able to have his work also be his passion of teaching young people sellable skills so they could provide for themselves and be productive members of our community. He was one of the best at what he did even receiving the Teacher of the Year Award in 1979 from the California Industrial Education Association. He was an adviser for the Interact Club and also helped coach the wrestling team for 10 years. In addition, he taught night school for adult education classes for 10 years as well.

His passion for Trinity, California, was strong and the family spent most of their time off up in the mountains and he eventually retired full time and moved there in 1999. Upon moving there, he continued his passion for making a difference in the lives of young people and was elected to the school board where he served for six years helping get resources for the kids and teachers.

Fishing, riding motorcycles, hiking and helping anyone who needed it were the things he spent the bulk of his time enjoying.

He is also survived by his two sons, Wayne Scott of Fairfield and Phillip Scott of Folsom; granddaughters, Amber Olson of Redding, Annika Scott and Bianca Scott; and great-granddaughters, Addley Grace and Trinity Wren Olson.

A celebration of life for John R. Scott will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019, at The Clubhouse at Rancho Solano, 3250 Rancho Solano Parkway, Fairfield, California.
