Ronceverte-Lance Cpl. Edward Charles Ray Baker, 21, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, in Randolph County, after a short illness.

Born Mar. 28, 1984, in Low Moor, VA, he is the son of Toby Ray Baker of Ronceverte and Catherine M. Baker of Ronceverte.

He was a lifelong resident of Ronceverte, a member of the VFW, and a member of the U.S. Marines Corp. He had served in Iraq as a gunner.

Lance Cpl. Baker was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lester C. and Lela Baker.

Survivors include: his mother, Catherine M. Baker of Ronceverte; his father, Toby Ray Baker of Ronceverte; two sisters, Heather Baker and Roman Sloan of Covington, VA, and Mindy Baker of Ronceverte; niece, Summer Sloan and two nephews, Gabriel Sloan and Gavin Baker; and maternal grandparents, Joe and Linda Morgan of Caldwell and Joyce Larue of Ronceverte.

Funeral services were held Friday, Mar. 3 at the Longanacre Funeral Home Chapel, Fairlea, where Steve Bostic and Rev. Mike Wilson officiated.

Entombment was in the Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Lewisburg, with full military honors.
