Karen S Kisner (Bowman) - Class Of 1976

Karen Sue (Kisner) Bowman, 52, of Fairmont, Mount Harmony Community, passed away Monday (Aug. 30, 2010) at Monongalia General Hospital with her family at her side, following a long illness.

She was born in Elkins on Feb. 20, 1958, a daughter of Wanda JoAnn (Carr) Kisner of Savannah, Ga., and the late Rex Monroe Kisner.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 34 years, Earl Bowman; a son, Robert “Bob” Bowman of Fairmont; three brothers, Robert Kisner and his wife Jean of Fairmont, Joseph Kisner and his companion Linda of Fairmont and Rex Allen Kisner and his wife Retta of New Martinsville; and a sister, Mary Catherine Goff and her husband Eugene of Orville, Ohio. Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Betty Bowman of Jordan; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Sharon Bowman, Thomas Bowman and Rena Bowman.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Ann Bowman; and her father-in-law, Franklin “Shack” D. Bowman.

Karen was a certificated nursing assistant. She had worked at Wishing Well and Fairmont General Hospital as well as private care. She was a dedicated homemaker, wife and a very loving mother. She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and was a member of H&H Chapel, Meadowdale United Methodist Church most of her life.

Her interests included camping, sewing, fishing, her animals and especially her children.

Friends may call at Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Cam Pyle officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum Temple of All Faiths.
