This is me competing in college at Michigan State University in 1988. This jump was

Transferred from Wayland Baptist University where I already jumped 25' 10". Said that to say 25' 4+3/8" was an easy goal to reach then; no problem.

Best performance took place in 1988.
-On morning of Big Ten meet, I was unable to run much less jump due to back injury. By noon I was jumping, backache could not stop me; thanks to good old ice pack, tiger balm, and some aspirin. That day I jumped 25' 7+1/2".
-In week of 1988 Jamaican Olympic Trials I had the flu; did not get out of bed until day of competition. With my brother's help I managed to make it to the stadium where a bench became my bed for a while. Long story short as I warmed up that day I started to feel better; I won the competition with a jump of 25' 2". Did not go to the Olympics but proved to myself that belief and determination can go a long way.
