'Ess' as she was lovingly called, went on to be with the Creator on February 1, 1992 at the young age of 36. While her physical being has passed on, her good deeds have flourished through the hundreds of students she educated at the Unity Primary and Granville All age schools in Trelawny. Memories of her kindness and quiet strength have been a constant motivating force in my life since her untimely departure. To this day, I carry her old and worn purse, a symbol of my undying gratitude and appreciation for the brief time I was blessed in knowing her on this side of the universe as a sister. May her soul remain at peace with the Lord.

Cordella Reid (Ess) my beloved cousin. Still remember the jokes we shared across the fence as we use to be neighbours. You died before you got the chance to share the last joke you couldn't wait to share.Something exciting that maybe only the two of us would find funny, as you told my sister the Wednesday before you died. Can't remember hearing you singing but can clearly remember you whistling,. Remember my uncle saying "Ess can whistle boy!" but the next thing I knew, you were gone. Still talk about you alot. Always in my heart
your cousin
Elaire.

If I ever wanted to have a grown up conversation, I would walk up the hill only to stumble on to the veranda and pretend like I accidentally said something. Yes I would say it wrong, only because I knew my dear older cousin who took that role very seriously would tell me what I needed to know. Sometimes I walked away thinking,Mama may not want me to know that yet, but she knew it was vital to tell a young woman what to expect as the years creep by. She used to say, "every question deserves an answer." So true!!!! My sister Tensie was visiting from Canada and she asked me to walk with her to see Ess. That would be my last time talking to her, but she was giving Jokes as usual and warning me about boys now that I am "blossoming." It seems so unreal sometimes that she is gone. Still, gone but not forgotten.

February 1st of 2010, marked 18 years since you went home. However it seems like yesterday..Your memories live on and I become humbled each time I remember your kindness and selflessness towards me. Not only did you epitomize commitment to family and others but you went beyond. Your light shines on...
