David Helfner use to live a couple blocks away from me, in the Madison neighborhood, and I enjoyed going over to his house to visit him, and play on his atari system. He was such a nice guy, and people should be ashamed at themselves on how poorly they treated him, and teased him to.

June 7, 1968 — March 12, 2004
David Michael Helfter was born June 7, 1968, in Heidelberg, Germany, to Mark and Hella (Dietrich) Helfter. He grew up in Fargo, ND, and graduated from the Division of Independent Study. David then attended Interstate Business College and graduated with a degree in business administration.

David worked as a salesman and office manager for Sheyenne Appliance, West Fargo, ND. He returned to school and currently was a student at Minnesota State University, Moorhead, MN, majoring in business administration and political science. While in school, David continued his employment part-time with Sheyenne Appliance and also worked for Happy Joes, Fargo.

David enjoyed doing radio work. His personalities included Rockin Rodney, Danger Boy, and Dave's Simple World. He had a quick wit and was very creative. He was actively involved with the Libertarian political party. David also loved spending time with his family and friends. His dogs, Betor, Lursa and Cassie, were very important to him.

David died Friday, March 12, 2004, in his home, Moorhead, at the age of 35.

He is survived by his parents, Mark and Hella, Fargo; a brother, Karl, Fargo; a sister, Loraine (Joseph) Fleeman, Hiddenite, NC; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Loraine Helfter and Fritz and Herta Dietrich; an uncle, Peter Dietrich; and cousins, Jill Stapleton and Suzanne Albicker.

Visitation: Wednesday, 5 PM to 8 PM,
with a Prayer Service at 8 PM
Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead
Funeral Mass: Thursday, March 18, 2004, at 12 noon
St. Mary's Cathedral, Fargo.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo
