I worked for Hardee's on McClure (where I used to see some of YOU (you know who you are lol) in Peoria for thirteen years starting in July of 1981. While I was there I graduated from Illinois Central College (it was all I could afford! and I liked it!) with two associates' degrees: one in accounting and one in accountancy. Then I went to work as a bookkeeper for several small businesses. Then I had a stroke and a heart attack concurrently on the operating table while surgeons were trying to fix a congenital heart valve defect (the same one that killed my brother). The strokes caused me to be unable to use my short-term memory, i.e., it's now one p.m. on a Sunday and I have no idea what I did two days ago. However, I can remember the more distant past, for example, high school, but it's kinda fuzzy because it has been so long since it happened.
Creative writing class, French class, typing class, Mr. Storck(sp?)'s [although I remember him as being somewhat of a butthead if you weren't a jock or cheerleader, but he was a great teacher] algebra classes, library, and competition with Kate Potter for the best grades.... were some good memories I have of school. I also attended Peoria "Central" High School to finish getting my high school diploma. I think I graduated with my sister in 1982, but I don't remember.

Barry Manilow, Donna Summer, the Bee Gees (and little brother, Andy Gibb), New Wave, the Buggles' "Video Killed The Radio Star" (MTV's first video), "Saturday Night Fever", "Grease", disco (and "disco sucks"), Ronald Reagan, the Energy Crisis. These were the first things that crossed my mind about 1977-1981.
