Sandra Bullington (Harris) - Class Of 1974

Sandra Bullington (Harris)

Sandra “Sandy” Kaye Bullington Harris, 59, went to be with her Lord, Monday evening, February 22nd. She was born April 20, 1956 and was the daughter of William T. Bullington, Sr. and the late Mary Kathryn Canady Bullington. Sandy was also preceded in death by her brother William T. Bullington, Jr.

Funeral Service will be conducted 7:00 pm Saturday, February 27th at Green Springs Baptist Church, 1095 E Green Springs Rd., Parkton, NC. The Committal Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday at Green Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sandy graduated from Douglas Byrd High School in 1974 and she also attended Fayetteville Technical School. She was the middle child and married a middle child. Sandy always put others concerns above her own. She loved her family, church, talking and she never met a stranger-just someone she had not talked to yet. She loved children, letting people know about how God has a plan for us all, hunting, and fishing; anything outdoors as long as it was not too cold.

Sandy was always involved in many activities. In grade school, she was a Majorette. She carried this love to high school where she was a Majorette and twirled a fire baton and was a member of the Drill Team. She was also a member of the Leo Club. In her adult life, she was a Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout Leader, Rockfish Archery club Sec-Treas and V.P., NWTF, Friends of NRA, NCWRC Becoming an Outdoors Woman Archery Instructor, QDMA Ft. Bragg and Co-Owner of The Archery Clinic.

Sandy often referred to “her church” Green Springs Baptist Church. Her mother attended Green Springs as a child and as soon as Sandy attended Green Springs, she felt like she was Home. She loved her Sunday School Class. She said she was going to get Teddy to church and sadly it was only after she got cancer. Teddy promised her that day that because she loved the church so much, he would get her to church as often as he could if she was physically able. Teddy's love for Sandy and God was evident in the ways he cared for her. It was amazing to see how her eyes would light up when she got to church even when she was not completely able. She especially loved the singing, oh how she loved the singing, but she also loved the sermon as she underlined and notated in her bible with her broken binder as a testament to that. Sandy on many occasions has said “God has a plan we just don’t know what it is yet”. With each occurrence during the 2 ½ years of battling cancer she always said “God has a plan we just don’t know what it is yet.”

If you cannot remember anything else about Sandy, please remember right to the very end as long as she could talk, she always told everyone "God has a plan." And always to her, everyone else’s concerns came before her own.

Sandy loved her God, her Family and her Country in that order and stood strong in defense of all the above to the fullest of her ability.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 41 years, 7 months, 2 days and 12 hours, John “Teddy” Harris; son and daughter-in-law, John C. Harris III and Tabea of Germany; daughter, Windy Renee Harris Young of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Ben Michael Young and Tiffany Kathryn-Faye Melvin both of Fayetteville; father, William T. Bullington, Sr. of Princeton, sisters, Dorothea Jane Bullington Fox and husband Charles of Ocean Isle, Pamela Lynne Bullington Vanherpen and husband Ken of Colorado, and Martha Jeanne Bullington Casey and husband Craig of Princeton.

The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 pm Saturday until 7:00 pm and immediately following the service at Green Springs Baptist Church.
