John Stroupe

HOPE MILLS - John Stroupe, beloved father, brother, son and friend passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014.

Born on Nov. 23, 1957, in Fort Dix, N.J., to the late Haywood L. Stroupe Sr. and the late Kuniko Kobayashi Gibson.

A long-time resident of Hope Mills, he is survived by his loving daughter, Summer Braden, whom he cherished above all else. He also leaves behind brothers, Rhett L. Stroupe, (Cindy) of Hope Mills and Haywood L. Stroupe Jr., of Winston-Salem; sister, Jennifer McCoskrie (John), of Tampa, Fla.; nephews, Rhett A. Stroupe and Dylan Stroupe; and friend, Tracy Braden, of Hope Mills, to mourn his passing.

John lived his life as a laid back, free spirit who overcame the obstacles life threw his way and always managed to land on his feet. Although he enjoyed the quiet solitude of solving difficult crossword puzzles, he was also an avid golfer who made many friends on the golf course. Family and friends alike will miss him.

A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, in Reeves Funeral Home, 3308 N. Main St., Hope Mills, N.C.
