FAYETTEVILLE - Peder Niel "Uncle Pete" Gatewood, 52, of 1823 Stockton Drive, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Memorial services were held Sunday, April 18, 2010, at 3 p.m. in Westminster Presbyterian Church, Village Drive in Fayetteville, with the Rev. Randy Bremer officiating. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service, 610 Ramsey St., in Fayetteville.

Mr. Gatewood was a former Boy Scout and an active member of The American Pool Association (APA).

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Peder and Marie Nielsen.

Mr. Gatewood is survived by his daughter, Ashlie Gatewood of Fayetteville; sons, Jamie Gatewood of Georgia, and Jesse and Cody Gatewood of Parkton; stepdaughter, Ashley Shearin of Fayetteville; a granddaughter, Keira Gatewood of New York; parents, retired U.S. Army 1st Sgt. David and Tillie Gatewood of Fayetteville; two sisters, Joni Gatewood Hooten of Prescott, Ariz., and Terri Lynn Gatewood of Fayetteville; a brother, Lorne Archambeau of Hope Mills; nieces, Morgan and Madison Hooten of Arizona; and nephews, Joshua Miller and Tyler Gatewood of Fayetteville.
