Keith Johnson - Class Of 1975

JOHNSON ARCADIA - Robert Keith Johnson, Jr., 52, of the Arcadia Community, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010 after a courageous battle with melanoma cancer.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Dr. Ray Howell, III and Tommy Wilson officiating. Burial was at Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery in Cooleemee.

Keith was born in Lorain County, Ohio on October 16, 1957 to Robert Keith Johnson, Sr. and Doris Yates Johnson. He was a 1975 graduate of Douglas Byrd High School in Fayetteville, NC and a graduate of Mars Hill College. He began his career in social work with the Caldwell County Department of Social Services in 1984. He later joined the Davidson County Department of Social Services in 2000, where he currently served as Director. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Lexington. He had served as a board member for the United Way of Davidson County and was an avid golfer.

Surviving are his wife Jane Criminger Johnson of the home, his daughter, Kristen Johnson and his son, Matthew Johnson, both of the home; his mother, Doris Johnson of Fayetteville, his sister, Kathy Hayes and husband, Donnie of Fayetteville; his brother, Bill Johnson and wife, Tina of Mt. Airy; his nephew, Michael Johnson; his nieces, Abby Hagwood, Haley Hagwood, Dawn Lowery, and Andrea Lowery. His father, Bob Johnson, his nephew, William Robert Johnson, and his niece, Jennifer Hayes, preceded him in death.

The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel and other times at the home.
