Edwin Berg Jr. (aka “Fast Eddie” and “Sonny”), 66, of Wendell, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Edwin Allen Berg was born on July 5, 1947, in Fergus Falls, to Edwin and Alma (Erickson) Berg. He graduated from Elbow Lake High School in 1965, and went to work at the O and M Elevator in Wendell. Edwin worked at Christensen’s for a number of years, as well.
He returned to school and earned his degree in the area of telecommunications and, through his education, gained many opportunities, including the opportunity to work in and see many parts of the country. He gained many experiences and loved to share his stories on the road.
On March 28, 1976, he married Sharyl Donnan and they made their home in Wendell. In 1981, they were blessed with a daughter, Christine.
Edwin earned his nickname “Fast Eddie” by loving and having interest in cars. Through the years, he loved traveling and seeing different parts of the country.
When he was home, he never missed a Nascar race.
An excellent cook, Sonny enjoyed trying new recipes and, as someone who enjoyed gardening, used fresh vegetables in many of the dishes he put together.
Edwin is survived by his wife Sharyl of Wendell; a daughter, Christine (Charlie) Redetzke of Osakis; his sister, Annabelle (Melford) Moe of Fergus Falls; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Edwin was preceded in death by his mother, Alma Berg, and father, Edwin Berg; and one sister, Donna Surbian
Visitation: Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church
Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Monday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wendell
