James Lloyd Dallas

1949 ~ 2023

James Lloyd Dallas, 73, of Sandy, Utah, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on January 3, 2023 after a brief but intense battle with sarcomatoid mesothelioma. Jim was born in Fillmore, May 11, 1949, to Lloyd and Millie Dallas. He played football, ran track, and competed in debate competitions, graduating from Fillmore High in 1967.

Jim served a mission to Sweden (1968-1971) for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loved the Swedish people and was lifelong friends with several mission companions. He attended BYU prior to his mission and then graduated from the U of U.

Jim was sealed to Ruth Curtis in June 1976 in the Salt Lake Temple. He loved their four children, leaving a legacy of loving and serving God and his fellowman. He served with devotion in many church callings.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Millie, his brother Bill, and sister Ginger Pierce. He is survived by Ruth Curtis Dallas, his loving wife; children Tyler (Kara), Amber Lott (Matt), Scott (Danielle), Heather Maxfield (Troy); sixteen grandchildren–Spencer, Ryan, Aubrey, Emily, Mollie, Blake, Eli, Isaac, Ian, Laney, Owen, Maggie, Sydney, Bridgette, Lydia, and Jackson; and sisters Mary Lois Kuhn (Steve) and SueAnne Chruma (Jack).

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Alta Canyon LDS chapel 2400 E Alta Canyon Dr, Sandy, UT 84093. Viewings will be held on Friday from 6-8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:30-10:45 at the church. Interment to follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, Utah
