Cox, Denise, age 58, after a courageous battle with cancer, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025.

Funeral service will be held 11am Monday, September 15, 2025, at Westside Baptist Church, G5090 West Pasadena Avenue, Flushing, MI 48433.

Visitation 1-8pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10am Monday at church until the time of the service.

Cremation will take place following the service.

Denise was born in Flint, Michigan on November 28, 1966, to Chris and Judy (Isaksen) Hummel. Denise married the love of her life, Jimmy Cox, on October 25,1986. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and unconditional love.

Denise dedicated 24 years of her life as a labor and delivery nurse, compassionately caring for others. But her care extended far beyond her profession. She was a strong, kind, and beautiful woman whose deep faith guided her daily life. Denise was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother.

A faithful member of Westside Baptist Church, Denise served for many years in the children’s ministry, joyfully laying a foundation of faith for the next generation. Her family was her greatest joy. Whether she was cheering from the bleachers at her children’s or grandchildren’s events, hosting holidays, relaxing at the pool, or vacationing together, Denise lived to make lasting memories with the people she loved most.

Her happy place was the beach—where she could feel the sun on her face, the sand beneath her feet, and reflect on the beauty of God’s creation. Denise will be remembered for her unwavering strength, her deep love for her family and faith, her gentle heart, and her radiant spirit. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, and her memory will forever be a blessing.

Surviving are her loving husband, Jimmy Cox;

Children, Nate (Emily) Cox, Cory (Melissa) Cox, Kelsey Cox, and Jennifer (Corey) Hulburt;

Grandchildren, Brooke Hulburt, Jillian Hulburt, Troy Hulburt, J.J and Evie Surherlin, Addison Cox, Collins Cox, Riley Cox, Karsyn Cox;

Mother, Judy Hummel;

Sisters, Marti Entrekin, Barb (Doug) Bailey, Beth (John) Harris;

Mother-in-law, Renee (Hugh) Moore;

Sister-in-law, Tammy (Rob) Tipton;

Brother-in-law, Tim (Michelle) Cox;

And many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by, her father, Chris Hummel and father-in-law, Jim Cox.
