Jane Karen Garbacz, nee Bondhus, age 60, Thursday, June 16, after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving and adoring husband of 38 years, Joseph; as well as her beloved sons Bryan and Dan; daughter-in-law Kimberly; and sister-in-law Anita Andrasco. Jane was a native of Chicago but called St. Louis her home her entire married life. Jane earned a degree in education from Northern Illinois University and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Jane taught elementary school in Chicago and St. Louis. After spending valued time at home and raising her sons, Jane spent 18 years as an integral part of their family business, The Garbacz Group, Inc., as the accountant, office manager, and Financial & Operations Principal. Jane also was a volunteer with The Variety Club Women and served as its president from 1990-1992, The St. Louis Zoo, The Mathew Dickey Boy's and Girl's Club. Jane also completed the Mayor's Sun Marathon in Alaska in 2001 in dedication to her brother John who died of leukemia in 1999. Other survivors include her dear father Ken Bondhus (the late Emma); brother Steve Bondhus (Susan); devoted in-laws, Frank Garbacz (Joan), Bob Garbacz (Laura) and Mike Andrasco; as well as 11 adoring nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at St. Clement Church, 1510 Bopp Road, at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2005.
