Marc was a friend from the school bus in jr high. He was a good guy! I thought he was the first loss of our class and I regretted not knowing him better when I had the chance but he was kind of quiet and he came from a really large family!
Marc was one of my best friends all through High school. I have a lot of good memories of the things Scott Byroad(Toad), Marc and I did during those years. My favorite memories are our big fishing trip to Leech lake and fishing for smallmouth bass along the Des Moines river every chance we had during the summer. Marc had a big heart and would do anything for you. I greatly miss the Flock.
I can't believe I am writing this in 2008... I was likely one of the last of our class to see Mark in his so happy, so vibrant state. We both went to Iowa City after graduation and ended up reconnecting on the third floor of U of Iowa Hospitals ... Mark as a respiratory therapist and me as a registered nurse. Then a year later Mark all of a sudden ended up in my ICU after his accident.. Needless to say it was so very painful for his family and I was so saddened to have to say goodbye. All I can say is we are so fortunate to be able to say 'Mark was a dear classmate of ours.'
Marc "flock" was a very good friend through High School and college. He was also close to my whole family. And would visit them even if I wasnt home. I was back on leave from the military and Bryon Johnson was back from college. We had heard that Marc was in the hospital but we didnt know how bad he was. Bryon had to drive back to Chicago and I decided to ride with him and catch a bus from there, that way we could stop off and see Marc. When we arrived he was in the ICU on a ventilator and not responding. His new wife had just made the decision to turn off the ventilator. Bryon and I were there to witness his last minutes. Very sad. Marc had a rough upbringing and I fear was not really close to his parents and never had much of the family life that most of us got to enjoy. But he had found it in his new wife and her young daughter. The last time I had talked to him he was the happiest I had ever seen him in his life.I propose we have a toast during our reunion for all of those that didnt make it the 30 years. Here's to you Flock.
I think of Marc often. He was a great friend and a great person. Chris Boeger noted how the both of us stopped off in Iowa City to visit Marc in the hospital after his accident, and they removed life support just as we arrived. What a depressing moment.
I will never forget the fun times we had together.
Marc was like a brother to me,he always made me laugh. He was my one of Chris's bestfriends. He always would tease me about going out together and I said you are too good of friend. He would always come over and visit or eat supper with our family ,like I said my parents thought of Marc as one of the family. We think of him offen when we look through old pictures, he has been greatly missed.
