Gordon Dean Vandiver passed away November 13, 2018 at the Iowa Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. A funeral service will be held on November 20, 2018 at 11:30am at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale with a visitation held thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will take place following the funeral service at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter.
Dean was born February 1st. 1961 to Gordon Dale Vandivier and Jo Ashley Vandivier in Iowa City, IA. He attended Fort Dodge Senior High where he graduated at and then earned a degree in Criminal Justice at Iowa Central Community College. On January 7, 1989 he married Candace Hottman. He later divorced.
Dean was a true patriot and was proud to have served his country. His military service spanned 17 years. In 1980 he enlisted in the army and into the 2nd Armor Division as a Tanker. He retired from the Iowa National Guard in 2010. For 13 years he served as a Sheriff Volunteer Reserve Officer. Dean will be missed by many.
He is survived by his son Gordon David Zeka and wife Morgan; step mother Maxine Vandivier; ex wife Candace Vandivier; sisters Toni Vandivier, Rhonda Sieck, Mary Vandivier; brothers Dan Vandivier, Mark Vandivier.
