Michael E. Bloom Sr., 60, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Paul J. Baber Hospice Home.
Celebration of Life will be 2:00 PM Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Corpus Christi Church, with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Following the service there will be a flag presentation conducted by the Iowa Army National Guard. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 tonight at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.
Michael is survived by his children, Hollie (Mark) Kiley of Hudson, MA; Jennifer (Rick) Arkland, and Michael Jr. (Jenny) Bloom both of Webster City; grandchildren, Brittny, DJ, Brooke, Morgan, Emma, Madison, Aerielle, Brooke, Lacey, and Marissa; siblings, Richard (Francesca) of Fort Dodge; Donald (Donna) of Fort Dodge; Sylvia (Brad) Sperry; Mary (Bob) Seger of Fort Dodge; Thomas of Fort Dodge; Theresa (Roger) Redman of Lampe, MO; Patricia (Keith) Waychoff of Fort Dodge; a loving group of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Joanni Brown.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Mildred (Krahmer) Bloom; sister, Barbara Dewey.
Michael Edward Bloom Sr. was born June 19, 1952 in Fort Dodge. He was a graduate of St. Edmond High School, 1970. He was previously married to Kay Harrington. Michael enlisted in the Army National Guard. Mike enjoyed instructing and being a mentor of Tae Kwan Do students for 15 years at the YMCA, where he earned his 2nd degree black belt. For many years, until the time of his death he owned and operated Mike’s Pest Control. Michael thoroughly enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. He will be deeply missed by all he touched and cherished. He had a special zest for life and made every moment count.
