Marilyn K. Graves, 61, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30th at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband Harold, daughter, Erin Panbecker and her husband Jason of Fort Dodge; sons, Brian Short and Adam Graves both of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Keegan and Madyson, step-sons, Harold "PeeWee" Graves and his wife Robin of Fort Dodge; Nick Graves of Humboldt; step-daughter, Angel Whyte and her husband Jeff of Fort Dodge; step-grandchildren, Anastasia, Austin, Ethan, Brady, Josh, Missy, Kayla, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Michael, and Bradley; her brother, Ronald Short of Fort Dodge; and her mother-in-law, Violet Halbach of Fort Dodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Delores (Dode) Short.
Marilyn Kay Short was born on October 30, 1952 in Fort Dodge. She attended schools here and graduated from St. Edmond High School. She worked at Tompkins Health Center (now Simpson Health Center) as a dietary aid for over 41 years. On July 6, 1991 she was united in marriage to Harold Graves and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Marilyn loved to be a caregiver for her family. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was a very important part of her life. She enjoyed the family vacations to Tennessee, reading, attending St. Edmond sporting events, and going to stock car races.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
