Gary Poldervaart, 57, of Duncombe, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. A private Mass of Christian Burial was held on July 18, 2020 at the Corpus Christi Church in Fort Dodge. Burial is in the St. James Cemetery near Clare, Iowa.

Gary is survived by his son, Jerry Poldervaart and his fiance Mallory of Grinnell; three grandchildren, Lillian, Josie, and Kallan; he is also survived by his ten siblings: Arie Poldervaart of Jewell, IA; David Poldervaart of Fort Dodge; Judy (Willie) Haines of Clare; Debra Poldervaart of Fort Dodge; Steven (Ronica) Poldervaart of Fort Dodge, Sandra (Brett) Mallinger of Fort Dodge; Donald (Shanette) Poldervaart of Fort Dodge; Ronald (Stacey) Poldervaart of Fort Dodge; Lori Poldervaart of Fort Dodge; and Ramona (Jeff) Kirchhoff of Humboldt. Gary is also survived by his ex-mother-in-law, Susan White and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister Mona Poldervaart.

Gary Dean Poldervaart, the son of Arie and Ramona (Jones) Poldervaart, was born January 6, 1963 in Fort Dodge. He attended St. Matthew Catholic School in Clare and in 1981, he graduated from St. Edmond High School. After his education Gary worked at Farm Egg before he started working at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility. In 1995, Gary married Tina Redlina and the couple later divorced. Gary was currently employed at UnityPoint Health in Fort Dodge in the Environmental Services department at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Gary enjoyed collecting recipes and baking pies. He loved to garden and get together with his family. Gary was a kind soul and a hard worker. Many times Gary would say, "I went the way of hope, that's the way I always go."
