Hi to everyone everywhere! I just read all the recent forum comments and it was very interesting knowing what everyone is doing. Moudy and I were gone from FM from October 27th to January 11th and I am still trying to figure out why we came home to this cold blustery winter. I can't every remember a winter like this one. We are returning to our condo on March Island on Feb. 19 to March 26th. Maybe by then it will start getting warmer here in Iowa. We are remodeling our condo so I have much to do in the five weeks we are back down in Florida.

I am looking forward to Spring in Iowa however. I think Spring is my favorite time of the year. All the trees and bushes are budding and blooming and we are planting flowers and mowing grass and enjoying the river view. I still would not live anywhere else but FM. It is home and has been for 70 years so I say why change things now.

My son, Todd, just opened a new hotel in Kansas City called the Sorella which means sister in Italian. I visited him in January and he took me to lunch at the rooftop restaurant. It is a beautiful hotel and right at the end of Country Club Plaza and I guess it is the new "in" place to be for the locals. He said the hotel is very busy and I might say it is very beautiful.  His son, Tanner, my grandson is turning 14 in March and his little brother Tate is turning 8 in April.  Where does the time go?

I think one of the reasons for coming home was to do income tax which I will do tomorrow with my tax expert. Yuck! I hate tax time however, since I closed my office a year ago it is so much easier now to figure my taxes. I am still working part-time at Hope Associates and enjoying no real management responsiblities anymore.

Had a great luncheon last Fri. Feb. 28th. at Vel's Amigos. 10 ladies were there. Food was good, as usual and everyone looked great. Haven't been to a luncheon for several months, so it was good to catch up w/great friends again. Looking fwd. to March's luncheon, March 28th. at Pizza Hut, at noon.

Hoping everyone in the midwest is staying warm. I got 4-5" of fresh snow last night. It's beautiful, but the low temps plus wind, are chilling to the bone. Age has a way of reminding you how painful numb fingers & toes can be, even w/gloves & boots on. MERCY...!!! But knowing Spring is just around the corner, warms you heart and makes you smile again.

It is great when we can come together and have lunch and catch up with one another.  Those of us close to home have this privilege.  The weather may be lousy but...if we can get there we do.  Knowing that spring is on the horizon and patience always pays off...so, hang in there and think spring!

Slight correction to Linda Schrader's schedule for our March luncheon. It's at 11:30 instead of noon. We changed the time for our lunches some time ago... we all get too hungry if we wait until noon. lol  

We do have a good time at our lunches. How lucky we are that our class has stayed so close! Any of you gals who happen to be visiting Ft Madison on one of our luncheon dates... please join us! We love surprises!

Great luncheon today at Pizza Hut. Enjoyed seeing everyone. So glad Georgia is back amoung us again. There were 11 there today. Next month's luncheon is to be at Green Acres, in Donnellson, 11:30, April 25th. I won't be able to attend, will be in Peoria, IL for a grandson's wedding the 26th. Looking fwd. to May's luncheon.

I'll see if I can do this!! I thought I did it one time!  This page looks different.    Just got back Sun from celebrating my birthday and out 50th Wedding Anniversity.  We went to Branson.  I wanted you all to know if ever in Branson to go see the show at the sight-sound theater---This year it was Jonah!  It was so good!  The actors and singers were great---had live animals--donkeys, camels, llambs, etc. They had built a ship 50 ft long that sails across the set that weighed over 30,000 lbs---a big whale that glided over the audience----great for children to see and to kep their attention.---no crying toddlers or talking children.  A few years ago we saw the show Noah and the Ark---good too!   We missed seeing Daniell and the lion's den and Joseph!   Maybe I will get the DVD's! They are now showing the show Moses in Lancaster Co., PA.   This show will probably be in Branson in about 2 or 3 years.---just wanted to tell you to try to see this show!

YEAAAA...I was right, you did have a 50th. Anniversary this year. Good for you & David. Larry & I used to go to Branson all the time. We saw Noah, too, but it was so loud. We sat up pretty high and there wasn't any knee room. The scenery and asting was wonderful. We always went to see Clay Cooper and Pierce Arrow, great shows and good comedians. Neil McCoy puts on a good show, too. There are so many good places to eat and great shopping, too. So glad you enjoyed you celebration in Branson. Where did you stay?

Linda,  This time we stayed at the Hoel Branson---just a short distance from the Starlite.   We went to see the Gatlin Brothers at the Starlite.   We saw Pierce Arrow last time we went.   The motel was just fair---good hot breakfast though!   If anyone has stayed at a good motel in Branson, let me know the name of it.  It is hard to find one just by the things they say about them on the internet!  We drove around and looked at the outside of some of them.   David and I will be in Fort Madison from Apr 26 to May 4 or 5th---watching our 2 little grandkids-- 4 1/2 and 2 1/2!    Hope we make it through the week!

Joyce...the girls in the class are having their monthly luncheon Friday April 25th. It's going to be at the golf course in Donnellson, IA. I won't be there, have a wedding to go to in Peoria for my oldest grandson. It's always a good time catchng up w/everyone. You would be more than welcome to attend, too.

Listening to the TODAY show this morning.....the weather person has been talking about all the bad storms hitting the USA. My ears alerted when they started about Denton, TX. Our classmate, Bob Brannon and wife Karen recently moved to Denton. I'm praying that they are both safe and sound, and have no damage to their home. Hope Bob or Karen, will let us all know "things are good" with them.

This is to say how sad I am to learn that Terry Schmidt Bedord passed away on Saturday May 10, 2014 in Kansas Citye, Mo.  She has two daughters and a grandson who are shocked to say the least as this was a very sudden death. Terry suffered from Crone's disease and from what I gather she has not shared the severity of her illness with her family. I sent an email out to the class  with the details of the memorial service which will be Saturday the 19th. I ask that we all say a prayer for Terry and her family.

Fri. May 23rd. we met in Nauvoo, IL at Grandpa John's for the May luncheon. The food was really good, also the pie. Great idea Carole, thanks for the suggestion and making reservations. It was agreed by everyone, we will be going back there again. There were 10 in attendance, if I remember correctly. Sharon N., Karan, Nancy, Sally, Carole, Mary, Linda M., Georgia, myself, and Cyndy Day Savage came back from KC to join us. She had gotten me a beautiful Hallmark Angel when Larry passed away, but couldn't attend his services, because her husband was sick. She was  determined to get it to me and what better time than when we were all getting together for a luncheon. She stayed w/me and we discovered we know ta lot of the same people AND her step-brother & sister are related to me. What a shock!!! I got out old photos from HS & yearbooks, and we reminicsed for hours Fri. eve. Sat. before she left, we hit the Keo. Frms. Mkt. We found fresh veggies, flowers, baked goods and several very talented ladies, who had made things from wood, and feed bags. A few tears when we said good bye. Life is short and we miss seeing old friends. She had several stops at cemeteries in MO on her way home. We realized we didn't have enough time together...BUT she promised to come back.

The June luncheon is going to be Fri. the 27th. on Denmark Hill...at Sharon's house. Hope everyone can make it, Mary is cooking!!! We know it will be wonderful!!! See everyone at 11:30 the 27th.

June 27th at 828 Denmark Hilltop at Sharon Scholl-Nabulsis house. Mary Mendez is making the enchiladas and the sopa and it will be delicious. Sharon will have soft drinks and maybe some wine and Karan Faul is bringing cupcakes. So come one come all. If anyone knows anyone living around here that would like to come just let us know so we can plan for the numbers for lunch. It should be fun. We always have fun together.  11:30 a.m is the time and the place is at the top of this letter. Take care and you'all come now, you hear!

Wife & I visited the Vietnam Memorial Wall in DC. shortly after it opened, and found Brad's name inscribed their, included with the 58,286 we lost in the Vietnam War. It was very very moving.

Would love to attend one of your lunches but TX is a little to far for lunch.  However, since Janet and I will be there for the Rodeo this year any chance your luncheon will be around then?  Mary has made her enchiladas several times for us to bring home and they are very good.  Hope everyone has had a nice Memorial Day.

Hello to all.  Somehow my internet messed up and I haven't had any contact with classmates.  I think it is working now.  I miss all the comments.  Sorry to hear that Terry pased away.  My clients, friends, including myself are all getting older and death is happening much too often.

Made it thru another tax season!  48 years doing taxes, 28 owning my firm.  My oldest son, Brent, has rejoined me in the practice after an absense of 13 years working elsewhere..  Todd has left the firm after 22 years. Change is good!.  

Hope to get back to Ft Madison sometime but definitely plan on 2016 for the Reunion.
