It went out this morning.  Sorry for the interuption yesterday, but I'm 73, and easily confused.  Also, I'm occasionally experiencing memory loss, but I can't remember the word for it.  Not only that, but now I'm ending sentences with  prepositions!  Thank you Sharon for putting up with this.

Hello to all of you who are attending the reuinion this fall - Bill is hoping to get some fellows together to play a round of golf up in Burlington at Spirit Hollow - either Friday or Saturday afternoon.  We will be arriving into Fort Madison late Thursday evening, via Branson, MO - spending a couple days with Bill's sisters and their hubbies and taking in the shows and sights.  When Bill reached out to several of the fellows who played some golf at the 50th, to see if they were interested at this reunion, he discovered several were not able to attend this time or had some health issues that prevented them from participating.  Right now his only confirmation has come from Darla Qualls Dennison's significant other, Doug Williams.  If there are any of you classmates or spouses of classmates who have an interest in a round of golf, please email Bill at bmatt43@suddenlink.net.  I have a cousin in Burlington, Sam Buckley, who may join Bill if he's needed, but that is yet to be determined.  So - give it some thought and he hopes to have a few who still enjoy getting out and chasing that little white ball around the many obstacles that always present themselves.  Looking forward to catching up with everyone !

Hi folks,

Just to keep you up to date.

I'm in my 10th day of face peel. The 7th day was painful as a alcohol based savue was used by mistake,

My face is peeling in great globs of skin. Aaahhh! Had I known of the hazzards I would have avoided the sun.

My grandkids are agast. Grandpaw looks like a monster.

I remember going to the pool at FM in the afternoon and evening and spending the whole day and night until closure. Every day all summer. Little did I know that I was creating a skin cancer nightmare. The doctor says I have to heal from the first 7 day treatment and then go thru a 14 day process to remove the rest of the bad skin. Crap!!

Anything left will be removerd surgically. I almost look forward to it.

If I grossed you our - sorry.

Lessons learned - avoid exposure to the sun.

Bill

Bill,  My husband will be wanting to talk with you about this facial peel treatment at the reunion.  He is scheduled for one with the Dermatology doctors at East Carolina Brody School of Medicine in early November (located about 20 miles from us in Greenville, NC).  He has had numerous Basel Cell cancers removed from various body parts, starting back in 1984.  He has had 5 MOHS procedures on his face, head and ears to date.  The last one, where they had to go in 3 separate times on his ear until there were clear margins, was the deciding factor for the facial peel treatment. But, the doctor elected to wait until cooler weather and Bill wasn't normally playing golf any longer, before they scheduled it.  Like you, Bill was a freckled face red head that spent way too many hours in the sun and ALWAYS burned !!!!

You have my sympathy and I'm not looking forward to what is coming for Bill.  I wish you continued good luck with this process and pray it all turns out well.  See you in September.

Sandy Buckley Matthews

Bill -

So sorry you are going through this - sounds awful.  Here, I thought you were getting a face peel to remove all wrinkles - so you will look 18 again at the reunion.  Too bad, that when we were younger there were no good sun screens, like that are available now.  I have been using at least a 55 on my face everyday for the past 20 years.  Not only does the sun do damage, but also inside lighting - especially flourescent lights.   Hang in there!

Bill sending thoughts and prayers your way.  Hope it's not to painful and you can take something for it.  Good advice about staying out of the sun.  Keep us posted on the progress.

Hi again.

Finished the 7 day face peel and face is like a baby's. It revealed several depressions which my 10 year old granddaughter commented on. "Grampaw is that where you got shot in the war?" Made me feel really good.

We start the 15 day face peel tomorrow. and hopefully it wlll get rid of the remaining dammaged skin.

I am doing well and wish to thank all of you.

Bill

Bill,

I hope you will be on the road to recovery after the next 15 days.  Does this mean you don't have to shave any more?  Still thinking about coming to the reunion.  You are one of the few people I remember, since I only attended there during my senior year. And now that I am a senior again my memory is becoming foggy. Besides Charles, does anyone else rememer me?

Linda Kirchner (Schrader)

ABSOLUTELY I remember you Jerry. I remembber everyone in our class, plus everyone in the classes ahead & behind our class. I didn't know you well Jerry, but I do remember you being a part of my HS senior year. You should come back to the reunion & catch up with people you remember. It's a great experience reminscing about your past & how it made you who you are today. Hope to see you next month.....

Jerry,  I remember you also - do you remember my husband, Bill Matthews?  We have attended every reunion so far and they really just keep getting BETTER.  We have grown in so many different ways and all have had such memorable and differing life experiences, BUT WE WERE ALL "SHAPED" IN MANY WAYS BY OUR TIME AT FMHS AND LIVING IN FORT MADISON !!!!
