Happy Easter to everyone.  It is strange not going to Church for Easter services but watching services being streamed on my computer!

Lets all pray that the COVID-19 Outbreak will soon become history and we can all get back to some normal in our lives.  I have been working during the entire outbreak.  Tax preparation is an essential business under the Financial Sector.  I am looking forward to a couple of days off at the end of next week to catch my breath.  Moving the filing deadline to July 15 just extended my stress.  Many of the seminars I normally do after April have been cancelled so not much traveling in the next months.

Happy Easter to all.

BRAD: Love the picture but that has to be second grade as I went to Jefferson for kindergarten and 1st grade.

Wish I could find more of my pictures but I lost a lot of them when our basement flooded in Topeka, KS.

Hope all are well and safe.  Hugs,  Darla

Happy Easter.

Welcome to your 30 day free trial of socialism.

We are dong fine in our little version of COVID19 house arrest. Not too bad as long as Binnys Spirits, Deerfield Bakery,  and Whole Foods keep up their timely deliveries.

All the casinos are closed so no poker. Too lazy to find illegal on-line poker. Why on Earth are the pot stores open, but I can’t play internet poker legally? I the The Republic is lost.

Greetings from North Carolina this morning - it's 6 AM here and the howling winds have woken me up and I've already been outside to pick up the trash/recyle containers (today is city pick-up)........we are expecting pretty rough storms throughout the day, and probably a tornado watch.  Just what we need - a little more stress with our Cypress Glen Campus Quarantine !!!!

I had to chuckle at Jack Sears' remark about the liquor stores still being considered essential and remaining open - here's why:  We have a staff here called "Life Enrichment", which arranges various cultural activities on and off campus (speakers and music groups, East Carolina University sports events, lunches and dinners out to nearby restuarants, trips to Raleigh for live theater, trips to the Outer Bannks), well, you get the idea.  They also do twice a week grocery shopping trips for those residents who no longer drive.  So, now we are not allowed outside of our campus Guard Gate - all deliveries from FED EX and UPS and others must be delivered to Security at the entrance and are then brought by an employee to your home.  Life Enrichment has taken over doing ALL THE GROCERY SHOPPING for any resident (primarily those in Independent Living who have their own kitchens and cook their own breakfast & lunch - this amounts to about 200 apartments & homes - those in Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, or the Memory Cottage have all their meals provided by the Main Kitchen/Dining Staff).  The small "catch" is you are now limited to 10 items, since they are shopping for so many residents.  You have to be very creative when making your shopping list and set priorities for those items you really need !  So, as a white wine consumer (Pinot Grigio and Dry Reisling) I was running out last week (about 3 weeks into quarantine).  I needed other items besides wine (which in North Carolina you can purchase at grocery stores - huge selection at PUBLIX and HARRIS TEETER).  My problem was neither of the 2 grocery stores where Life Enrichment shops (Walmart and Food Lion) carries the Vineyard I prefer.  So, I called upon my local friend and Marathon and Duplicate Bridge partner, Jan Brown, to go to Harris Teeter to get a new supply of wine.  She asked how many bottles and I told her to get whatever they had of Jacobs Creek from Australia (the depth of stock can vary).  So, later in the day, Security calls me and says they are on their way to deliver a large box from Jan Brown.  I can only imagine their thoughts about me, as here comes a case of 12 bottles of wine !!!!  I was slightly embarrassed, until the fellow told me that was the third resident that week who had a local friend making a "wine run" for them !!  Oh well, now I felt better !!

Everyone take care of themselves, stay in and stay safe !  THIS TOO SHALL PASS and we will all be better friends, neighbors and citizens when it's over.....because we've been through it together and understand what is most meaningful in life - HUGS to all of you.

I had to respond to the picture Brad put up.  It had to be first or second grade as I went to Jefferson for kindergarten.

I was wondering if any of you remembered the teacher that no one wanted to sit by in reading class because she would reach over and slap your legs for no reason.  Plus the teacher that got so mad at Larry Boyd she shook him so hard his nose bled.

I have pictures of some of the classes somewhere and will post them when I find them.

Thanks for posting the picture Brad.  Brings back he good memories of childhood.

I'm still juist as cute as I was back then but don't seem to have grown up all that much.  Still running around out of control and being a kid at heart.

I'm thinking that maybe the two on the left end of the front row might be Don Sunden and Larry Boyd?

Sure hope that the virus is under control by the reunion.  Would hate to miss it.

Everyone please stay safe.

I remember attending home football games during the fall of 1961, but I don't remember the excitement of beating Mt. Pleasant on the road.  Or that the Bloodhounds went undefeated and won the league!

Jim Harris who graduated from FMHS 4 years after us sent me 2 newspaper clipping from November 4, 1961.  How do I paste them into the message forum?

Thanks to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday.  Weird birthday. For at least the past 50  plus years, It coincides with the April 15 Tax Filing Deadline.  Since the deadline has been pushed to July 15, there was no celebration.  Now I need to regroup and get ready for July 15!  Maybe then I can have a delayed birthday.  I hadn't planned to work as much this year since my health has greatly improved and I am able to travel again.  But there is nowhere to go!

I hope by the July 15 deadline, things will be opened up enough to once again travel.  It has been almost 4 years since I last went to Hawai and I need my Hawaiian fix.

Hoping everyone is healthy and safe and that we will see one another in September 2021 for the 60th Reunion.

Classmates:  I'm sorry to again let you know that a classmate of FMHS 1961 has passed away.
