CLASSMATES: It is with sadness that I write to you that our very own Billy Grupy lost his wife Kathy, a couple of days ago due to a heart attack. Her funeral will be Friday at the Sacred Heart Church At 12:30 p.m. Visitation will be Thursday, at King Lynk Funeral Home from 3-5 and friends may call after 2 p.m.Thursday. A memorial is established for the Des Moines Couty Humane Society. She and Bill celebrated 61 years of marriage. Kathy attend Aquinas High School and was 79 years old. Kathy and I were in Weight Watchers together and she always had a sweet smile. One year we had a table where everyone brought something they no longer wanted, used or needed. Kathy brought a Stone Mountain clutch purse with a strap to hang over your should and it was like brand new. I snatched that purse up and have loved it for almost 5 years. Please remember Billy and their family in your prayers. You can read her obituary in December 18th Democrat. Kathy will be missed by all who knew her.

WOW ! That was a great turnout for May. Bill and I will be in Fort Madison the last weekend in May for his older sister, Jean Hoffmeister's, Memorial Service at King/Lynk on Saturday the 31st at 10:00 AM. We hope you all understand we will spend that weekend with Bill's extended family and won't be able to visit with classmates. Bill and his younger sister, Trudy Hesse, are the only Matthews left of the four siblings. I still have my younger sister, Barbara, in Wichita, KS and younger brother, Bob Jr, who lives in Hanover, MD. My older brother, Denny, passed away at age 66 from ALS.

Sharon and Sally, Thanks to you both for coming to Jean's Memorial at King/Lynk last Saturday - so good to give you each a sincere big hug !!! Sharon, please tell Moudy we pray he has a quick and total recovery from his hernia surgery - he needs to be dancing at his birthday party !!! Also, sure was good to visit with you at the meal following Jean's graveside service !
PS -Several of us went to the new Marina restaurant for lunch on Sunday - OMG! Such a huge tenderloin!!!
Dear Classmates: It is with great sadness that I write to you today. Our friend and classmate John Frey passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at his home in Fresno, Ohio surrounded by his entire family. There will be no funeral and John was cremated. At some future time Mary Ann will bring John back to be buried at Hillcrest Cemetary here in Fort Madison by his daughter, Catherine who passed away years ago. I ask each of you to say a prayer for John's wife and family. Any of you who would like to send a card the address is as follows:
