I met Noel in 1975 when I was working as executive assistant to the president of the Fort McMurray Hospital. In 1977 he decided to become a pipeliner and left Fort McMurray to work across Canada and around the world. In 1978 I relocated to St. Paul as it would be easier to travel to wherever he was working, and we have been here since.
We were married in 1980 and as our family grew, the summers would become our family time. I would load everyone in the car the last day of school and travel to wherever Noel was working, returning just before school started again.
The kids have all made their homes here, Darel has followed in his Dad's footsteps and become a pipeliner, and this year went into partnership on a Polaris Dealership. Breana has her own photography company, specializing in weddings, which works very well with her teaching. Carina often helps as a second photographer.
I have been working with my brother John as Office Manager of his company, Ideal Carpets & Interiors for the past three years. Before that I was Office Manager and Safety Coordinator for 20 years, with DOS Millwrights, an oilfield maintenance company owned by another brother Don. He sold his business last May and is now enjoying semi retirement. I still have two brothers left in McMurray, Doug works at Suncor and Ken is a Captain with the Fire Department.
