I grew up with Earnest on 2nd Street. We did a lot of fishing together on the Indian River while in grade school. I saw very little of him after that, but from what people tell me he grew up to be a nice person. He will be sorely missed.
I remember the years Erney played Little League. He played catcher for the Indian River Tomato Packers. Erney was one of the guys on the only team from Ft Pierce to ever go to the Little League Nationals. That team included Richard Steele, Billy Austin and several more classmates. I lived on 23rd street and the ball park was on 25th street. I played ball for 3 years on those fields. Erney will be missed by many.

My best memory was of Earnie was playing ball.I was a pitcher
and was instructed to not to let Earnie hit. So on 2 consecutive bats
I hit him with a pitch. He of course threaten to kill me, but in later
years all was forgiven. (Thank God)
