Larry Blandford

Sorry to announce that our classmate Larry Blandford passed away on June 26, 2025

Lawrence “Larry” Keith Blandford, 72, died June 26, 2025. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in the beautiful home he built with his family.

He was born in Fort Pierce, Florida, where he lived his entire life. His father died when Larry was 1 year old, and he was raised by a single working mother.

He graduated from Dan McCarty High School in 1970 and earned his associate’s degree from what was then Indian River Community College. As a teenager, he worked at his brother’s commercial fishing house next to the North Causeway Bridge.

Before retirement in 2015, he worked at Richard K. Davis Construction Corp. in Fort Pierce for 37 years. He started as a steel erector before he moved into the office as the company’s safety officer, payroll manager and equipment supervisor.

Larry always had a love for woodworking. He and his wife of 43 years built two homes together – the first one completed in 1985 and the second one in 2000.

He was a lifelong Miami Dolphins fan and a dad divided between the Florida State Seminoles and the Florida Gators. He took karate at IRCC and graduated to a brown belt. He was a Fort Pierce Little League baseball and softball coach. He loved to cook and was known for his famous Blandford burgers and steaks.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela “Pam” Blandford; son, Joseph “Joey” Blandford; daughter, Laurie Kay Blandford; daughter-in-law Joanne Davis Blandford; and three grandchildren, Adam, Connor and Finley, all of Fort Pierce; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Marguerite Frere Blandford; father, Leslie Robert Blandford; and brother, Dennis A. Blandford; as well as seven aunts and two uncles.

A memorial service followed by a reception will start at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Haisley Funeral Home in Fort Pierce. Memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice.

I am so sorry to hear about Larry Blandford's passing. I never hung out with Larry at Dan McCarty, but he was one of a group of us that started our first grade school years at St. Anastasia Catholic School. My memories of Larry are when we got in trouble in first grade for talking too much in class. Those were fun times. My heart goes out to Larry's wife, childfren and granchildren.  Rest in peace, Larry.
