In Memory

Betty Dalton

Betty died in 1967 at age 15.  Taken so young.  Had Betty lived, she would have graduated with the Class of 1970.

Betty Dalton was a sweet and loving girl.  She lived next door to me for years and we became very close.  I remember her as if it was yesterday telling me we were going on a picnic on Friday and I better be ready.  She lifted my spirits up so many times I can't count them, and yet she never asked for anything for herself other than for me to be by her side.  I was only too willing to accomodate her.  Heck, what 12-15 year old guy didn't want a pretty blonde to let him know how much his company was wanted.  When I heard she was sick I didn't realize until she told me how bad it was, just what was going on with her and her fight to live.  Betty is sorely missed and loved from this humble guy that wished she was still here and living large like she always did.  I wanted all of us to remember Betty for who she was and the outstanding person she was.  I only hope to see her in the future.  Please make room for me.

I am so glad to see the post about Betty.  I remember her from Middle School.  She was such a fighter, and in my young, naive mind, I thought she would win her battle.  We have lost so many classmates, and sadly we lost several before our senior year was completed.  Each day is truly a GIFT from God.  Let's appreciate them.  They fly too quickly.

I too remember Betty..but I believed we called her Diane. She went to the church where I went.I still remember the preacher talking about visiting her and her family ' at home and the hospital. It was a sad day when he shared that she had gone on to heaven and how much she believed .. we'll meet again Diane

Oh Kenny in reading this you made me cry.  I haven't thought of Diane in a very long time.  Betty, Diane whatever name we called her by,  she was one of the most gentle, sweetest people that ever walked this earth!  I spent many a day at her house both when she lived in White City and when she lived over by us.  Even to the very end, she was always so kind and sweet - always looking out for the other person more than herself.  I remember watching how frail she became, however her spirits were always high!   We always had a giggle or two together.  Thinking back now, I realize that it was truely her faith that kept her strong!  I do believe that we had one of God's angels amongst us when she walked this earth!

This photo of my beautiful sister Diane was taken right before we found out that she had a brain tumor...She was 12 years old....She endured 3 brain surgeries during her last 3 years...She never cried, she never asked "Why me?"...She was and still is the closest  person I've ever known who was truly an Angel...I have missed her everyday of my life!!...She was the most fun and dearest person I have ever known...Thank you all for remembering her...I couldn't make the photo smaller, but I wanted to add this being it was taken before she had her head shaved so many times and wore wigs her last 3 years , this is who I remember.....She absolutely knew she was going to Heaven, she had even talked to God and had zero fear of dying......She knew once she got to Heaven, she would be able to walk and see again and was so ready to go at the young age of 15...She loved everyone....Jewel

I have fond memories of Betty from junior high.  I remember how pretty she was and I finally got enough nerve to ask her out on a date (before I could even drive).  We went to a high school football game at Jaycee Field together. She was so sweet and we never even mentioned her health. I knew she was sick, but I just assumed she would be better.  She was a class act and I was very shy but she was so gracious, I still remember it like it was yesterday. I  can only hope to deal with life's issues with as much class and dignity.........
