Melinda "Lindy" Kelly 7/30/62 - 2/9/13
Lindy (Hardegree) Kelly, of Forestdale, MA, passed away due to a cardiac event on February 9th. At the time of her crossing over she was married to James Kelly, of Forestdale, MA, and worked in the Operating Room at Frisbee Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH.
Although she had made New England her home with her beloved husband, Jim, she still considered herself a Southern girl at heart. Born in Harriman, TN in 1962 she was preceeded in death by both parents, Maj. John P. Hardegree & Frances Short Hardegree.
Lindy grew up in Atlanta, GA and Port St. Lucie, FL. She graduated from Ft. Pierce Central High School in1980 then continued her education at her Mama's alma mater -Tennessee Technological University where she earned a Bachelors degree in Business. She worked as a Health Physics Tech in the nuclear power industry for over a decade then pursued her Registered Nursing degree in CT in the late 90s.
Lindy was a dedicated healer practicing as a licensed OR nurse and certified Reiki Healer. Her spiritual beliefs as a Wiccan grounded her to nature and Mother Earth and she drew upon this to bring light and positive energy to all she worked to comfort and heal.
Lindy loved music and played the cello with the Atlanta Junior Symphony as a child and with the Treasure Coast Symphony Orchestra in later years. She also played the piano and bassoon, and was the Capt. of the FPC Marching Cobra Band's rifle team in high school.
In addition to her husband, Jim, and two cherished pet cats, she is survived by her sisters, Melissa Harned and Melanie Hardegree, and her beautiful, adored nieces Jessica & Elizabeth Harned; all of whom reside in South Florida.
Two celebrations of Lindy will take place: the first at the home she shared with her husband and the second at the home of her sister, Missy, in PSL, FL. The first celebration will be Saturday, February 23rd from 4 to 8pm at 38 Pimlico Pond Rd. Forestdale, MA 02644. The second celebration dates will be announced later.
Gifts in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or any animal rescue group.
Although the loss of Lindy from this physical world is immense she has not left us. She is a fierce protector of all she loved and will now be a Guardian and Angel around us always.
