Dolly Jackemeyer (Kikuchi)

Dolly Jackemeyer (Kikuchi)

Death date 10/30/21.  The following came on Nov. 8, 2021 from Dolly's daughter with whom she made her home.

She always talked about her years at Concordia as long as I can remember, and I mean always.  She'd mention it at least weekly for one reason or another, as she had some of the best memories from those years.  She lived with me and I received the first condolences cards yesterday, the very first one on the top being from Concordia and whomever wrote it.  That was a wonderful thing to see and still tugs at my heart.  Sincerely, Michelei

From Don Luepke on Nov. 1, 2021

Dolly embraced family and had a passion for genealogy.  She studied and shared all of this background information with hundreds of people.  And she had a deep love for all of her classmates and religiously posted on our website.  Her faith in Christ was strong and sure.  Since she was living in Hawaii very few of us got to see her but she was "close" nevertheless.
Please remember her family in your prayers.

Always growing in Jesus,

Don

The following was also unearthed through Don's efforts from WikiTree (where genealogists collaborate) posted by Dolly in August 2021.

"I was born on a farm near Fort Wayne, Indiana. My schools were Martini Lutheran School (grades 1-3.5); Emmanuel, New Haven (3.5-4); Central Lutheran (4-8); Concordia (9-12); Purdue, Fort Wayne (parttime 13); produce (West Lafayette 13-16); Universität Hamburg (16); University of Arizona (17-18 Master's Degree in German). I met my husband while working on my Master's in Tucson and we married in Honolulu over Christmas vacation in 1968.  We moved to Kauai where I attended Kauai Community College and earned a certificate in Early Childhood Education.  I founded a Preschool-Day Care Center named Pulama Keiki of which I was Director for 16 years.  I have had cancer, frozen shoulder, kidney failure and tremors.  After I became a widow in 2003 I moved to Honolulu and currently live with my daughter and granddaughter in koala, Oahu."

Further from Don:  Another thing uncovered was some information on Dolly's late husband.  He was a reknowned archeologist on the island of Kauai.  Check out this website about "Pila."  You will also see there a picture of Dolly and him.  Note that Dolly is listed as co-author on many of the books and articles that he wrote.  The website:  http://kauaianthro.org/Pila%27sPages_files/Pila.htmlI am hopeful that providing this information gives you a little insight into our dear classmate's life.  We rejoice in her triumph in heaven.

Below this box is a link that will take you to Dolly's profile where there are photos she posted over the years.
