Sue was born and raised in Fort Wayne Indiana where she graduated from South Side H.S. in 1958. From there she went to DePauw University, graduating in 1962. She continued her education in Colorado at the University of Denver where she met her husband Don Fitch of Tipton Iowa. They moved to Colorado Springs after Don graduated and started a family. She was employed by School District 11 as a Special Education Teacher. Special kids deserve special teachers!!!!
Sue was an avid swimmer and even performed synchronized swimming! She raised two kids as a single mother. Sue was always looking out for her children, making sure to get them to all their sporting events and extracurricular activities, and even when the activities collided, she found a way to make it happen. She was great at finding things to do with her kids, from camping, Olympic Sports Festival, swimming, gymnastics, little league, basketball, bowling, adventurous birthday parties, Glenwood Springs adventures, she kept them busy! Every summer she took the kids and a friend or two camping. She specialized in driving a VW Bus, pulling a tent trailer, with two high maintenance kids all over the mountains of Colorado. She adored hanging out with her grandkids. She was often found in the pool with them, and often times they did sleepovers with her.
She loved her church family. She attended First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the choir. Go Big Blue!
She was preceded in death by her parents of Fort Wayne Indiana, Bob and Helen Bradley, her ex-husband Don Fitch of Colorado Springs, and her older sister Barbara Bradley of Torrance California. She is survived by her two kids, Greg Fitch (Rachael) of Sebastopol California, and Christa Popham (Vernon) of Colorado Springs. She adored her grandchildren and great grand children. Alex and Jake of Sebastopol California, Jessica (Kyle) of Phoenix Arizona, Saje, and Preston of Colorado Springs. Her great grand kids are Jose Jr, Manny, and Bella of Phoenix Arizona.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 am, August 15th at First Presbyterian Church, 219 E Bijou St Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to PEAKPARENT.ORG. They help kids with disabilities learn. We thought that would be perfect for a special education teacher!
