Cynthia Ann Gachman
1950-2018

Cynthia Ann Gachman was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on October 31, 1950 to Robert and Eddie Horton.

A Texas belle until the end, Cindy loved Southern cooking, Southern decorating, and good old Southern wisdom. Her Thanksgiving stuffing and her chicken soup were legendary among those who knew her. She and her lifelong soulmate, Dean Gachman, were high school sweethearts who married in 1970. Cindy was considered by many to be a second mom, and her hilarious, witty sense of humor, her feistiness, and her wide-open heart made her the living example of the saying, "To know her is to love her." 

One of the greatest gifts she leaves with her children and anyone who knew her is her deep empathy for all people (animals included). "It takes all kinds" was one of her favorite sayings, and she had endless compassion, whether it was for the checker at the grocery store, a child at a women's shelter where she volunteered, or a complete stranger whose story she read on the news. Cindy was an amazingly talented interior decorator who made every space beautiful with her creativity and taste. She is survived by her devoted husband Dean, her daughters Dina, Amy, Jaclyn, and Kathryn, her sons-in-law Jerett Zipin, Michael Smith, Niall Kenneally, and Ben Canfield, her beloved grandchildren (who adored their "Cici") Sophia, Jake, Benjamin, Hudson, Cole, and Sutton Ann, and her loving brother Scott Horton. 

Cynthia was honored with a private Funeral Service in the Kagan-Rudy Chapel at Emanu El Memorial Park, with interment following the service. Rabbi Chase Foster officiated.
