Michael Bumpus

 

LUNENBURG -- Michael C. Bumpus, 57, of Elmwood Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, in his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Gardner on June 22, 1948, the son of the late David J. Bumpus and had lived in Lunenburg since 1995. Prior to that, he had lived in Hubbardston for several years. He graduated from Athol High School in 1966 and the Massachusetts State Police Academy in Framingham in 1971. He also received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Lesley University in Cambridge.

Mr. Bumpus served three years as a Massachusetts State trooper before going to work in the truck sales industry. For the past 10 years he was the northeast District Sales Manager for the Sterling Truck Corporation of Redford, Mich. Previously, he worked in the same capacity for the Ford Motor Company and Rockwell International.

He enjoyed running, skiing, hiking, reading and classical music. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, and also had an enduring love of animals, in particular his dog Maestro.

He was a member of the Chapel of All Saints, Episcopal Church in Leominster.

Mr. Bumpus leaves his wife of 33 years, Janet (White) Bumpus; two sons, Jonathan P. Bumpus and his wife Meaghan of Lynn and Bradford T. Bumpus of Lunenburg; his mother, Regina (Krzykowski) Bumpus of Gardner; a brother, David S. Bumpus and his wife, Kay, of Warner Robins, Ga.; a sister, Susan Wenc and her husband, Mitchell, of South Grafton; and several nephews and nieces.

 

BUMPUS -- On Jan. 18, Michael C. Bumpus, 57, of Lunenburg. The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. in The Chapel of All Saints, 1469 Main St., Leominster. There are no calling hours. Burial will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Chapel of All Saints, 1469 Main St., Leominster, MA 01453.
