Bob, my thoughts and prayers are with you and Craig.  I am so sorry for your loss.  I have so many good memories of Karen.  I remember when Craig was born and the times I spent with Karen helping her with him.  She was a really good friend and she will be missed by so many.  I pray that you and Craig will know God's comfort in the time ahead.

I was stunned upon learning of Karen's death.  I had known her for as far back as I can remember.  I knew her family well.  In fact, I generally considered Karen and her family as part of my family.  We lived next door to one another.  I can remember playing with Janice and Karen when I was probably about five years old.  We played together every day.  I remember I was sad when they moved away.......about two blocks away, if I remember correctly.  I had the best neighbors in the world.  I  had the Redmans on one side and the Kindermans on the other.  Remember Kenny, Wayne, and Ronnie?  They were all family.

We had our own "Our Gang" club.  It was great.  We had Brenda Sagor,  Bill Graves (Annapolis graduate, living in Virginia), Larry Brown, (where abouts unknown), Larry and Nancy Meneely, Donnie Pitman, (deceased), Judy Stillwell, (whereabouts unknown), and others that drifted in and out of "Our Gang" over the years.  I think I moved from that neighborhood when I was in the 6th grade.

Karen was always bright, a leader, and a pretty little girl to boot.  I don't have command of the English language to express my sorrow and condolences to Bob, Dorthy, Janice, and Lana.   Their sorrow must be devastating.    I think Karen and I only talked a very few times since graduation, however I always remembered her as my sister.  Her family was present at each of my mother and dad’s funeral.  I remember Floyd, Karen’s father quite well.  He always walked to work with his lunch bucket.  A good guy.  In fact, all of the whole family were “good guys.”

So, when I learned of Karen’s death, it was like losing one of my family.

Sleep well, Karen.  I know they have mud pies in heaven, too.
