Wonderful 50th Reunion
Posted Monday, October 12, 2009 04:21 PM

Dear Classmates,

I want to tell you what a great time Lee and I had at the 50th reunion. I have looked forward to this ever since early April when I found out that we were having a 50th reunion and I was not disappointed. Thanks to the committee and all the others who worked on or took part in this.

It was wonderful to see everyone, talk about old times and what we are doing now. I loved every minute of it. I was especially moved by the balloon ceremony although it was bittersweet remembering the ones who are no longer with us.

I marvel that you can get together with someone you have not seen for 50 years and sit down and talk like it was only yesterday. Old friendships were renewed and I hope will continue. As we move on with our lives, may God bless each of you and I hope you live rich and fulfilling lives.

Sue: It was great seeing you Saturday night. I thought the reunion was wonderful too. Always remember that we don't get older...we just get better. Hope you never miss another.

The reunion was a great time! Totally agree with Sue and Sharon.

The memorial service was memoriable! I walked away with sadness that friends are no longer here with us, but hope to change someone's life by living their examples of faith, hope and love.

While waiting in Atlanta Airport, I "Dutched" a soldier that I overheard talking to his Mom about the cost of getting back to his base. Planes had been delayed because of weather and hundreds were waiting and being rerouted to get to their destinations. I didn't have much cash left after vacation, but I told the soldier it was in memory of a friend whom I heard had often helped others and I hoped it would help in some small way. "So, considered yourself "Dutched"! He smiled a big, friendly smile and said "Thank you!" I later saw him at a food stand getting a sandwich!

I was nervous about doing it, but saw the results and know I will be on the lookout for another opportunity to "Dutch" someone! Thanks, Annabelle for sharing this priceless memory of David "Dutch" Gunyon.

Carolyn,
When I read your message I had a lump in my throat. I really wanted to cry because of the love you showed this young man. Thank you for being part of the Dutch's tradition.
Looking forward to seeing you at the next reunion. Sorry there wasn't enough time to visit with everyone but there was so much to do in a short time. Hope your trip home was pleasant. God Bless

Barbara

Carolyn: You just touched my heart with your message. What a wonderful legacy for Dutch. I will keep my eyes and ears open to be able to do the same. I thank God for both of you and for the Class of "59". We could hold a reunion in the middle of a field and it would still be successful due to the kind of people in our class.

Carolyn, what a wonderful "You Got Dutched" thing you did for that soldier. Annabelle spoke a very inspirational message that affected many people. I think we will see many more "You Got Dutched" actions taking place. I know I will.
It was so great seeing everyone again. I don't think I have seen Clinton Faust for 50 years. And of course, Barbara Wilson Adams looked wonderful, and it was so good to see her also. My memory bank was overloaded when I saw these people I haven't seen for so many years. I immediately went to the roller rink and was racing against Barbara. I never beat her but gave it my best effort. She was a great skater and was so graceful when she danced. I have always remembered Clinton as being a farmer. Is that right??? And LeMoyne Altic looked good as well. It was nice meeting him again and his lovely wife.
I'm very proud of the reunion. My husband, Bob, said this was the best and we've never missed one. He asked how we would top this one and we decided we didn't have to. The 50th should always be special.
I'm looking forward to the first mini reunion we have. I encourage all who can to come to them.
