A new book of mine will be published this year. It's about my adventures with four grandkids. The title is "Grandma Told Me Never to Believe Anything Grandpa Says." I'm hoping it will be available before the grandkids hire lawyers.

I've written a memoir about my days in the news business. "Everyone Needs an Editor (Some of Us More Than Others)" is now available from the publisher, Sunstone Press, or Barnes & Noble.com or Amazon.com. The book is rude, raucous and, I hope, sometimes funny. I tell stories about Ted Koppel, Dan Rather, Bill O'Reilly, Charles Osgood and others. Warning: There are some "bad" words occasionally as there were in the newsrooms where I worked.

A book of my essays on the joys of getting old, "Did I Really Change My Underwear Every Day?" was published by Sunstone Press in June, 2011. My sister bought eight copies.

I have a Web site, larrymccoyonline.com, where I try to put a new essay every couple of weeks.

Shameless self-promotion, but if you don’t speak up for yourself who will? This is a blurb from my new book, “Grandma Told Me to Never Believe Anything Grandpa Says”:
Larry McCoy worked for forty-five years in newsrooms in Chicago, Munich and New York and also found time to write smart-alecky notes to his bosses, politicians, car dealers, and the IRS. A couple of his employers asked him to leave, and the IRS decided to audit him. His humorous essays have appeared in several major newspapers, perhaps because the notes he sent to their editors were respectful and, frankly, bordered on begging. This is the third book he has written since retiring in 2006. At this rate, his sixth book should go on sale in 2032, so please mark your calendar. McCoy grew up in Indiana and lives on Long Island, New York, with his wife, Irene, who is also having a book published by Covenant Books, “Only Gypsies Move On Sunday,” a memoir about a life that began in an industrial town just outside Chicago. (He hopes that book plug will entitle him to bigger and bigger helpings of ice cream.) McCoy writes a monthly column for Great South Bay Magazine and posts other work on his website, larrymccoyonline.com.
