I actually ran into Mark in basic training at Ft. Knox Kentucky of all places right after High School. We both happened to have the same ship date to Germany and shared a ride from Freeport to St. Louis Airport together and we flew out of the same flight together to the airport in Lanstuhl Germany, we hung out for a couple of days there in Germany until we got the official orders to move on to our units. I did see him once more in Berlin of all places and that was the last time. I had known him since grade school.
