Funeral services for Alice Edwards Island, 47, will be Friday, April 9, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport, with the Reverend Maceo W. Smedley officiating.
Burial will follow in Mims Cemetery in Brazoria.
She died on Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson, Texas. She was a member of First United Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony Island of Freeport; mother, Martha Alice Edwards of Freeport; three daughters, Kolanda Hampton of Lake Jackson, Tiaria Edwards and Jourdyn Edwards of Freeport; two brothers, John Goodwin (Flora) of Lake Jackson, Kary Edwards of Houston; two sisters, Ruth Sullivan of Spring, Laura Hill of Freeport; three grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Sam Edwards, Horrace Sullivan, Aljara Royston, Alvin Dean, Aljara Stevenson and Steven Edwards.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Goodwin, Kary Edwards, Isaac Williams, George Williams, Daniel Williams and Ervin Helms.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria.
