David Lee Schroeder was born in Bay City, TX, on March 16, 1953, to ArDell and Gwendolyn McLelland Schroeder. His Lord and Savior called David home on Thanksgiving morning, November 23, 2006. We are all so thankful for the time we were given with David.
David spent the first few years of his life in Damon; he was the youngest of three boys. He was the precious baby to his mama, and the punk, runt or worm to his dad and brothers. David’s family moved to Freeport when he was about three or four years old. He often told a story about going to kindergarten at a lady’s house and learning to make cinnamon toast. He attended Velasco Elementary and graduated from Brazosport High School in 1971. David joined the Navy after high school and spent two years in service. His friends tell how he was very well-liked in high school; he was a friend to everyone. David worked out in the Gulf on shrimp boats when he was younger. He was very mechanically inclined. He was a heavy equipment operator even after the loss of his leg. He could fix anything for you and even took things apart to see how they worked. He had a smile that just stole your heart. He was a loving, caring man who would do anything he could to help anyone. His smile and his fun-loving personality will live on in our hearts forever.
His parents, ArDell Schroeder and Gwendolyn McLelland Schroeder, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his soulmate, Susan Goodman of Surfside; his son, Seth Alan Schroeder of Pearland; his brothers, Alan Schroeder of Lake Jackson, and Roy and wife, Jayme, Schroeder of Freeport; niece, Gwen Laura Schroeder of New York; step-niece Rachel Woods of Freeport; aunts, uncles, cousins, many dear friends and his dear puppy dogs, Gooch and Lucy.
Honorary pallbearers are Cy Baird, Joe Eudaley, Jeepers Kilsby, Ty Kilsby and Samuel Reyna.
A memorial service to celebrate David’s life will be held at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. https://thefacts.com/obituaries/article_b477751c-20aa-5d3e-a69b-3c5ae31cb59d.html
