Craig Haugo

Craig Allan Haugo, age 47, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at his home in Gilbert, Ariz.

Craig was born on Sept. 25, 1963, in Park Rapids, Minn., to John and Sharon Haugo. During his youth the Haugo family lived in New Brighton, Minn. Craig is a graduate of Totino-Grace High School and University of Wisconsin-Superior. Craig also earned an MBA from the University of Phoenix. From 1988 until 2002 he served as a district and regional manager for Champs and Finish Line sporting goods stores. Since 2002 Craig has been owner/president of Valhalla Holdings, a publishing company for community organizations.

A talented athlete, Craig was an all-conference QB and all-state catcher in high school, and QB and captain of his college team. He had pro football tryouts with the Packers and Patriots. In recent years he has been active in community and church activities as a youth coach and teacher. Craig especially loved coaching his children's teams. He was an active outdoorsman who loved hiking, biking, camping, fishing and hunting.

Craig touched the lives of many people. A devout Christian, he was widely respected for his leadership, integrity, and family values. Craig will be greatly missed by family, neighbors and those who worked with him.

Craig is survived by his wife of 21 years, Holly Jane (Redfearn) Haugo, daughter, Kelsi Jane Haugo, and son, Brady John Haugo, of Gilbert. He also survived by his parents, John and Sharon Haugo of Hudson, Wis.; brothers, Mark Haugo of Phoenix and Erik Haugo of Minneapolis; and a sister, Kristin Marie Haugo-Jones of Tracy, Minn.

Funeral services and interment were held on Tuesday, Oct. 5, in Gilbert. He is buried at Valley of the Sun Memorial Park in Chandler, Ariz. A memorial service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct.14, at Atonement Lutheran Church, 1980 Silver Lake Rd., New Brighton.
