Barton Redfern comes in first place. Val Linde taught us how to write, and I thank her for that. Couldn't say she was a favorite at the time.

Lowell Thomas in a lift line at Alta, Utah in 1967, I think. A fraternity brother of mine, Ed Pope, got busted in the Soviet Union for spying 15 or 20 years ago. Then he got cancer and they let him go. So he was famous for 15 minutes after I knew him, if that counts. He used to brew his own beer at the house. Now he's a motivational speaker for conservatives, I think.

Putter around the house a bit. Walk my dog, Chevy. Drink beer and chat with my buddies at the Wedgwood Ale House in Seattle. Play Acey Ducey with a neighbor friend.

Mostly, the stuff above. But an occasional nap is nice.

I discovered underachievement when I was in the Navy. It has served me well over the years. I figured out last year that I had not been outside the United States and Canada for 42 years. 42 years! That's ridiculous. So I'm making up for it now.

When I worked for Boeing, I used to get a lot of those at-a-boy letters.
(Little pellets from the bosses). I could cash in the points for waffle makers, clock radios, jackets, and gadgets. This is big time shit for an underachiever.

Steve Frates and I enjoy a long term correspondence and occasional visit.
Barbara Statkus and I make a point of writing every 20 years or so.

In 2014 I went to Leonardtown, MD, Sun Valley, ID, Fullerton, CA, the six countries of Central America, Prague, Czech Republic, Hvar, Croatia, southeast Alaska, Yosemite and Kona, Hawaii

Probably yesterday. It doesn't take much.
