The year stuart passed away, he worked at the church, and helped my dad and I build that huge porch. My dad had nothing but good things to say about stuart. Stuart was such a humble person in my opinion. He is surlely missed.

My first love; I think about him still. I think about the man he would have become had he lived. He had a good heart and a gentle soul. He taught me so much in the short time I was his friend. I loved his feathered hair and smile with his one overlapping tooth. So cute! The first time I saw him my heart skipped a beat for sure!

My special memory of Stewart was our good night signal. Our houses stood kitty corner from one another, and we would click our bedroom lights on and off three times before going to bed. I also remember our first date! We went to the Cine Theater to watch Star Wars and my hoop earring kept getting caught on his shirt when I put my head on his shoulder. Normally, it would not have been a big deal, but I just had my ears pierced a couple of hours before the movie started. Ouch! I remember the special gifts he would buy me with his paper route money--a heart necklace, perfume--a musk scent, a journal to write poetry in, etc. I recall watching the eclipse with him under the big oak tree instead of doing homework like I promised my mother. I remember spending hours with him discussing life; we would get into some deep conversations for two teenagers.

Sometimes it hurts to remember; Stewart’s death was a turning point in my life.

There was something special about Stewart that everyone recognized. He was kind, generous, loyal, and insightful. I feel lucky to have called him my friend.

FYI: Stewart's name was misspelled in the yearbook. His name is spelled Stewart not Stuart. I know this because I must have written Mrs. Stewart Gray a million times when I was a young girl.

I first met Stewart in Mr. Olivetts class in Jr. High. When I first meet someone I usually know pretty quickly whether I like them or not. Stewart was special, his smile, the way he laughed and just the presence he had when he was in a room. People wanted to be around him, me included. We did'nt become better friends and hang out a bit until freshman year. We had some really good partying times I'll never forget. I have the picture of him his mom sent me that was taken just before he died. I remember that day and where I was and who told me he had died .I went to his funeral along with alot of kids, kids thats all we were... My parents grave is directly accross from his, his brother, mom and dad. I can see his face and "Beautiful" written on the stone.... and he really was. I'm thankful I got to know him.                 Jeff Carter
