old message forum Posted Friday, April 3, 2009 12:02 PM 03/05/08 10:14 PM #1 EDIT DELETE Wesley Smith Smitty Great to see we still have the type of passion and drive to make things happen. I would think that is waht made us better than everyone else. It will good to get to see where we have been and where we are going. Cheers 03/06/08 07:56 AM #2 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson Jenni - You are DA BOMB! This website was a great idea! Glad to know our education from FVHS is being put to use! I am very excited about our 20 year Reunion and look forward to seeing everyone there! 03/06/08 09:25 AM #3 EDIT DELETE Lisa Bullock Prince Hello to everyone! Chances are, I have your senior photo on my computer from our 15 year reunion. If you want it, send me an email and I will send it to you so you can upload it on your profile page along with some current photos :)I love the reminiscing and hearing how everyone is doing! 03/07/08 10:47 AM #4 EDIT DELETE Angela Baldwin Keith Ward, You are still a nut! Loved the photo of the family. We should get Freebird and my Dylan together for a playdate soon. Have Camilla call me. Angie B. 03/08/08 01:23 PM #5 EDIT DELETE Audra Turner Holland I'm really enjoying these pictures! We'll post some of ours this week. At least our current pics won't shut down the network with a hair clog. Ha Ha. Its great to catch up on everyone's stories. See you soon. 03/18/08 07:21 PM #6 EDIT DELETE Shannon Hilliard Berndt Most of you look exactly the same (especially Ward)! This has been quite a trip down memory lane. I have learned a lot I never knew. I saw some beautiful twins, a lot of little "mini me" kids that looked so much like all of you, a hippie that looked like Tres Prince and a blessing in the form of a coma! A lot has happened to some of us. I think I just may show up to this reunion. Love the website, Jenni. Hey, did you guys see that Def Leppard is touring?! 03/19/08 01:46 PM #7 EDIT DELETE Kerry Meador Ferrell Who is Mrs. Worley???? 03/19/08 02:24 PM #8 EDIT DELETE Lorie Sears Howerton She was the Spanish teacher. 03/21/08 01:14 PM #9 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson Happy Easter to everyone!!! 03/23/08 07:51 PM #10 EDIT DELETE Shannon Hilliard Berndt I still have some PTSD issues from Mrs. Malia. And, hey, you guys know you want to see Jo Ann Bowles! For those who don't know, she married my uncle! Sucked for the grandparents to have to hear about all of my classroom crudeness. Wouldn't it be my luck that the teacher everyone gave the most grief would marry into my family?! So, throwing the open invitation out there to all of you - go ahead, give me your best Ms. Bowles jokes, ridicule, laughter, whatever - I can take it! 03/29/08 10:58 AM #11 EDIT DELETE Carla Ashworth Molnar Folks, get those pics up!! I love seeing your kids and everything... but we got to see what you look like now! Otherwise we won't recognize each other at the reunion. I can't find my senior year book. I can't believe how bad my memory is. I love seeing the pics. Can't wait to catch up with everyone at the reunion. 03/29/08 01:22 PM #12 EDIT DELETE Kerry Meador Ferrell Carla, Not everyone looks as good as you!!!!! I am still looking for a picture I can stand to look at. Look forward to seeing you. Your kids are beautiful! 03/29/08 02:13 PM #13 EDIT DELETE Marty Smith I think it's wonderful that everyone is getting excited about this years reunion. I know I am. It will be a good time to see old friends and classmates once again even though some of us see each other around Fuquay on an occasional basis.I feel that this will be the reunion to remember for years to come! 03/30/08 10:44 PM #14 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith If anyone has high school group pictures send them to me and I will put them on the Picture page. It seems that we were always clustered somewhere in the courtyard taking a picture. (Like the one Angela has on her profile.) I can't find my senior year book either. I would love to find the picture of us shaped as 88 in the courtyard. Does anybody have it? Or was it in the annual? 04/01/08 09:01 PM #15 EDIT DELETE Jennifer Jones Fish Okay Carla!:) I have posted a picture. It's not the best picture, but is definitely the most recent. I am usually behind the camera so I will try and get in front of it and take a better one!!!!! 04/02/08 03:58 PM #16 EDIT DELETE Lisa Bullock Prince The picture of us in our caps and gowns is up! Look under Memories :) 04/07/08 04:12 PM #17 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson Jenni, I will be glad to do searches for as many as we need to. Just let me know at the meeting tomorrow night. THANKS! 04/09/08 01:19 AM #18 EDIT DELETE Kent Strickland Hello everyone! Talk about your trip down memory lane... I am looking forward to the Reunion. I saw a comment from Arnie regarding a possible golf outing that Saturday. I would be interested in that. Great pictures from everyone... Wesley, great to hear from you and your recovery. Carla, I posted a few pictures to avoid being on the naughty list. 04/10/08 08:08 AM #19 EDIT DELETE Melissa Farmer Byrd I agree with Robin - let's try meeting at the park or something of that nature so our kids can get together again. That was much fun at the 15th. Fuquay has grown so much now there must be someplace we can get together! My kids will be coming to the football game on Friday but maybe Saturday while the boys (and girls) golf? 04/10/08 08:58 AM #20 EDIT DELETE Monique Howard Johnson Good idea Robin and Melissa. Robin - if you want to be the contact person and take care of finding a good location and time on Saturday to get all of the kids together - that would be awesome! Email what you find and a good time and we'll post it on one of the main pages of the site so that everyone can view the details. (Doesn't have to be done right now, but in a couple of months or so.) I'm looking forward to seeing you all again and all of those beautiful children!! 04/11/08 11:47 AM #21 EDIT DELETE Wesley Sweatman WHHey one and all. Back from the grave to say what a wonderful website Jenni has created. Hope all are being successful at whatever God blessed them with. Write back if you have a second. Glad to know you. Wes :) 04/11/08 01:19 PM #22 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith Wesley Sweatman!! Long time no see! No, I don't know how. There is another class like ours that has a site that plays 80's music and I can't fiqure out how to get that on the site either. But I am working on it. E-mail info@classcreator.com. Or go to www.classcreator.com and look at FAQ. On another note, why is there not a little man by your name in classmates profiles? Virginia is not that far away and you have 6 months to plan. 04/13/08 11:58 AM #23 EDIT DELETE Wesley Sweatman Hey Jenni. Wow!! Nice to hear from you again. Last time we saw each other some buddies and I had come over to your and Sharon's apartment at State after some party or something in 1990. So, how have the past 18 years treated you? If I may request, Ms. Rebecca Johns would be great to see at the reunion. Somebody get a hold of Chris Stafford and tell him the pin police want their pins back. haha. Take care yall. 04/13/08 01:12 PM #24 EDIT DELETE Lorie Sears Howerton He is on my list to find! Talk about difficult!! I think the pins police must have really hidden him well!! :-) 04/14/08 05:34 PM #25 EDIT DELETE Audra Turner Holland Hey, who loaded the music player? I'm enjoying this, but my dancing is embarrassing my kids. Can you do requests? 04/15/08 01:51 PM #26 EDIT DELETE Marty Smith Great music selections on the music player. Brings back fond memories. Hope everyone is doing well! 04/16/08 01:30 PM #27 EDIT DELETE Melissa Farmer Byrd Love the music and the pictures on the "Memories" page! Hey Mo - love the puffy sleeves on the prom dress - gonna wear that to the reunion? How about the crown? :) 04/16/08 11:12 PM #28 EDIT DELETE Reid Howard Those Sr. Class Party pictures are the best!!! Those perms were brewing but good!!! I am going to keep digging for more pictures, this is great! 04/17/08 09:01 AM #29 EDIT DELETE Marty Smith Robin, Love those music selections on your profile page. Those are some of my favorites. 04/17/08 04:21 PM #30 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson I agree Marty...Robin's songs are awesome! Those songs bring back lots of memories. Jenni was so sweet to post some pictures I found in our Memories section. Okay everyone, get to digging!! We need to see yours! 04/17/08 05:54 PM #31 EDIT DELETE Monique Howard Johnson Funny Melissa - girl, you know I buried that dress, hair and crown a LONG time ago in the sand at Wrightsville. 04/19/08 05:13 AM #32 EDIT DELETE Kerry Meador Ferrell Gals- I was showing my 8 year old our pictures that have been posted and she said "mommy what is wrong with all the girls hair"? 04/20/08 10:01 AM #33 EDIT DELETE Harrison Moncure Marty, You made my week by calling to inform me about the reunion. Google you name...I didn't realize your career path had changed. Take care.. 04/21/08 08:27 PM #34 EDIT DELETE Faye Jones Who put the picture of Mr. Lloyd Gardner on the memories page? I used to have the biggest crush on him when he was my typing teacher. I used to get in trouble for typing letters to friends instead of doing my assignments. Thanks for the picture - I forgot what he looked like with hair. For those of you that don't know, our old typing teacher became the assistant principal at Fuquay High, then the principal at Enloe High. He was principal of the year several years back. Now he is an AREA SUPERINTENDENT in the WCPSS and my BOSS!!! It's a small world. Remember Mrs. Pierrie, our old english teacher? She is the assistant principal at Wake Forest Rolesville High School now. She's awesome. I guess all her notes to parents are grammatically correct! Ha, Ha 04/22/08 09:38 AM #35 EDIT DELETE Melissa Farmer Byrd I loved Mrs. Pierrie - hope she will come! Can you contact her Fay? 04/22/08 12:47 PM #36 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith Check out the first picture on the Memories page. Can you guess who they are? I see Tasha, Robin and Melissa. Is that Carol Clay? I don't have a clue who the other person is. Robin do you know? 04/22/08 01:50 PM #37 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson I posted the picture of Mr. Gardner Fay! I LOVED HIM!!! He was such a great teacher and so fun to joke around with. He made my Junior and Senior years great. I had him for Accounting and FBLA. Please tell him about the reunion and get his address. We want to invite him!! Tell him we said HELLO!! Thanks! 04/22/08 05:19 PM #38 EDIT DELETE Audra Turner Holland We have Mr. Gardner's address if you need it. We try to send him a Christmas card every year. Did you know Drew actually changed his career because of Mr Gardner? When Drew moved here as a senior, with plans to be an architect he couldn't get in Drafting 3 or 4 (wouldn't you know it was full........of Rowdy Drafters.) So he took Lloyd's class and became an accountant. 04/23/08 07:49 AM #39 EDIT DELETE Monique Howard Johnson I remember typing class with Mr. Gardner - A S D F J K L "semi". When we had to follow along with him and got to the "semi" part - somone always "swore" because they missed the "semi." I don't know how I passed his class. Laughing and typing usually don't work well together, but Mr. Gardner understood why I was laughing - he laughed too. I'm still typing and laughing...... 04/23/08 07:50 AM #40 EDIT DELETE Van Hyder Ha! Rowdy Drafters....I don't think I was officially in the club, but I do remember having a T shirt. I remember sitting beside Ward, blackening in my heavy lines and messing up. Ward would say, Whats the matter Cheeseburger, SCREW UP!?! I also remember turning in an assignment & in 2 seconds Coach would hand it back with all the errors circled. My fondest memory is a quote, and I still use it today. I asked Coach how my lettering looked and he replied "Hyder, I've seen better looking things fall out of a chicken's butt..." Coach Howard was real motivational type guy. Monique, please invite him. 04/23/08 10:03 AM #41 EDIT DELETE Kerry Meador Ferrell Jenny- I think that is Susan Tilly in the photo. 04/23/08 10:31 AM #42 EDIT DELETE Robin Bryant Lipscomb That is Tasha Tigen, Serena Kithcarts sister (I Think),Melissa Farmer, Me and Christine Hastings. Somewhere outside the gym in middle school. taken in '84 04/23/08 04:16 PM #43 EDIT DELETE Reid Howard Hey, I remember Christine Hastings in 8th grade. I think it was Mrs. Matthew's science class. I can still recall one thing I learned in her class, ROY G. BIV : ) 04/23/08 04:17 PM #44 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith Monique, It was Mrs. Malia's class. We all climbed out of her window. Now does anyone remember why we did that? 04/23/08 04:34 PM #45 EDIT DELETE Wendy Johnson Little I think that person is Gina Gunter. She was a year younger than us. 04/23/08 04:48 PM #46 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith OK Reid just e-mailed me and reminded me of why we climbed out of Mrs. Malia's window. Things better left unsaid. Where is Ann Tolar? Somebody find that girl. We need to find her so she and Reid Horton can sing "Stand by Me" at the Reunion. I have the sheet music somewhere. 04/23/08 05:11 PM #47 EDIT DELETE Kerry Meador Ferrell I still say its Susan Tilley in the photo. 04/24/08 03:36 PM #48 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson Jenni - That is a great idea of having Ann and Reid sing. Just dont ask the backup singers to join in..I still remember being so nervous on stage at graduation doing that! Those were the days!!! 04/25/08 12:29 AM #49 EDIT DELETE Reid Howard Good old WSES :) I knew all these folks before they made it big on "THE FOOD NETWORK" : ) 04/25/08 01:44 PM #50 EDIT DELETE Angela Baldwin Keith That's Carol Clay and Christine Hastings in that picture. 04/25/08 01:53 PM #51 EDIT DELETE Robin Bryant Lipscomb Hey if you are going to have Reid and Ann sing ..... then maybe those little chef's should show off their culinary expertise!! 04/26/08 07:38 PM #52 EDIT DELETE Lorie Sears Howerton I believe 5 years ago, Ann was in England. I know how to get in touch with her dad and step mom if you need me to. 04/26/08 11:03 PM #53 EDIT DELETE Robin Bryant Lipscomb Mr. Mitchell I stil say WOW!!!! Funny nobody has pictures of Mr. Fram or Mr. Hooker or Mr. Weede. 05/01/08 08:23 AM #54 EDIT DELETE Van Hyder I can't believe you missed the best game of the decade...Galaga. 05/01/08 02:46 PM #55 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith We will just start over. Vote again. 05/01/08 04:23 PM #56 EDIT DELETE Serena Kithcart Favorite Yes Robin, that is my sister Shaun, Class of '89. 05/05/08 06:06 AM #57 EDIT DELETE Leigh Ragan Watson ok, I finally found all of the pictures that we used at the 15 year reunion. Paige, do you still have yours? I'll try to get them up soon. Fay, my kids loved seeing you. (For anyone that doesn't know, Fay Jones is the assistant principal at my kids elementary school.) I did see Mrs. Pierre a couple of years ago. She hasn't changed much. Still so sweet and kind. We were at my sisters church and she saw me and came right to me and knew who I was. I was shocked. She lives in my neighborhood. 05/05/08 08:09 PM #58 EDIT DELETE Shannon Hilliard Berndt The pictures are GREAT! I have to get mine up here, ya'll know I got some good ones! I promise not to post anyone in their underwear and I will leave out the ones containing liquor and middle fingers! Wait, that may only leave me with 2 pictures I can post. I loved all of our semi-mullet perms. I completely forgot about Ward playing the guitar. I did not, however, forget about some fine Buddy Mitchell! I forget to log onto here unless someone sends me a message - but it is so much fun when I do! 05/11/08 07:47 PM #59 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THE CLASS OF 88 MOM'S!! YOU'RE THE BEST! 05/15/08 07:38 PM #60 EDIT DELETE Van Hyder FWIW, I'm wondering about the colors. Blue & purple? 05/15/08 09:11 PM #61 EDIT DELETE Reid Howard Since it's Tennessee Orange and Black, it's good to see change after 20 years, at least for a day or two : ) 05/18/08 12:05 AM #62 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson Hope everyone has had a great weekend! Not to be Donnie Downer but I was talking to Stacy (Cahoon) Baker the other night and she said Scott told her that he remembered one of our classmates, William Douglas, that died the summer after our Freshman year. He drowned. His picture is in our Freshman year annual. There is a memory page in our Sophmore Annual dedicated to him and others. Does anyone else remember this? When she brought that to my attention I do remember something about it. Also, Tracy Denton was in our class for one or two years. He left our school and went to Garner. He died in 1989 if I am correct. Just thought we would want them remembered on our memory page. 05/19/08 09:47 AM #63 EDIT DELETE Serena Kithcart Favorite Yes Betty, I remember that happening and I also remember William Douglas. William was a really nice person with a wonderful spirit. His sister, Michelle, was a few years behind us. I run into her from time to time and it's always good to see her. Their family was very kind. 05/20/08 10:16 AM #64 EDIT DELETE Van Hyder William's family worked the Burt farm about two miles from where I grew up. I actually took William's job driving the tractor from the tobacco fields to the barns for Fred Burt. He drowned while on a church trip to the lake. I remember him as a good person. 06/19/08 10:14 PM #65 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith Does anybody happen to know where our Class of 88 Banner might be? It's the one Anne and Betsy are holding up in the first picture on the home page. We had it at the 15th but we can't remember who took it home. 06/20/08 07:26 AM #66 EDIT DELETE Chris Wrenn Biscuit Hey everybody. Did you find Ann?? I would love to see her too. Chris 06/22/08 02:20 AM #67 EDIT DELETE Ann Tolar Cheshire Hey Biscuit and All You Nonedible 88 Friends - I've been found. Lorie Sears unearthed me. I was hiding quietly under my pet rock. I love all these profiles. It has been so great to see what everyone’s been doing. Of course, based on all the pictures of gorgeous children all over the place, it seems pretty obvious what many of you have been doing. Hint, hint, nudge, nudge...know what I mean? ;-) Anywho... I have so many questions, comments, completely inane and annoying sidebars...we're so quiet on here - most unlike this group to be so mute. Since I seem to have misplaced my off switch, I'll just ramble a little while and hope no one minds... * Biscuit- I remember following you around with a microphone half of Senior year trying to interview you for WAKS…And after all these years, I still can’t even look at Chicken in a Biscuit crackers, see anything made by Pillsbury, or watch the movie Seabiscuit without wondering how the heck you are! In fact, little things remind me so much of so many of you all the time. All good stuff…okay, mostly good stuff – KIDDING – sort of ;-) * Can someone PLEASE fill me in (privately if necessary) on the whole Mrs. Malia's Window Caper deal. I was there, I have total recall of everything except why we did it, if I did it (I was likely too self-conscious about people seeing my butt in the air as I climbed out to actually do it myself), if we got caught...okay, yeah, so my total recall is more like semi-gloss recall. I DOOOO remember other things about Mrs. Malia's class. But as Forrest Gump said, "That's all I have to say about that." Well, out in public like this anyway. Suffice it to say I am with Shannon on that whole Malia PTSD dealy. And don’t even get me started on Mr. Fram…I figure he owes some therapist out there at least $20,000 8-) * I have LOTS of pictures from Middle School and a few from High School. Does anyone want them for the reunion? Should I post them here? Should I burn them in the yard to protect the innocent? Should I turn them in to America's Most Wanted? * Regarding Ward’s fishing boots…I bought a pair and truthfully found them a bit difficult to put on. However, if you also purchase his premium goat’s milk cheese, it works as a great lubricant and has the bonus of providing a soothing salve-like ointment for any of those pesky blisters the boots may cause. Perhaps, Ward, you can consider some kind of two for one offer on both products. * Van (Spider) Hyder made me snort a perfectly good strawberry slushy out of my nose when I read his quote about seeing better things fall out of a chicken’s butt. What I really now NEED to know is what the Coach was doing looking up a chicken’s butt anyway? That actually keeps me awake at night…shesh, thanks, Van! * Reid … I remember ROY G BIV too. Do you remember when little baby Greg Fishel came to our class to talk about clouds and stuff? That happened, right? I’m not imagining things again, am I? I recall really wanting Bob DeBardelaben to come, but we got “the new guy” instead. (And, um, yeah, I had to Google Bob to figure out how to spell his name…) * Robin, you are so right about Mr. Mitchell. Katie bar the door: that man was purty. Maybe someone can make an ice sculpture of him to put up at the reunion…I don’t think the guys would mind. If they do, we could always put him in the ladies room. Better yet, just bring HIM to the reunion. We can sit his pretty little hinny on a shelf and stare at him all night Okay, I think I might be done for now. I do feel the need to warn you that this is only a temporary condition. I am actually writing a novel, so the muse is upon me and I find myself unable to shut up word-processingly speaking. But, since my dog is tapping his little foot and looking at his watch, I suppose I should be off. p.s. CONGRATS to MON-I-Q…I have a suggestion for your next *S* child…Shazam Linus Johnson. I think it has a particularly nice ring to it, don’t you? polartolar@embarqmail.com 06/22/08 01:49 PM #68 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith Ann, you failed to comment about singing at the reunion. Betty said she would sing backup. 06/23/08 01:03 AM #69 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson What's up Ann?? Yes I am a bit blown away that you did not include an answer to my question in your posting, that you and Reid H. should sing at the reunion...but Jenni..I will NOT do backup! Sorry girlfriend, one time was enough..although I do remember the hand motions we did and I still do them when I hear that song! Ann we would love to have you sing!!! 06/23/08 10:14 PM #70 EDIT DELETE Reid Howard Hey Ann and Betty, Betty, be sure you address which Reid H. you want to sing with Ann....cause I can promise you it ain't me : ) I only do karaoke of "Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas!" Ann, More offline about the Ms. Malia and crawling out of the window : ) That's probably an hour discussion at the reunion. And by the way, I can't wait to read your novel. We can say we knew you when! I have the Grease VHS somewhere. Been trying to convert to DVD. Maybe we can set up a display beside Ward at the reunion. 06/24/08 08:19 PM #71 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson Reid H-O-W-A-R-D...WOW! They both do have an "H" in them don't they??? DUH!!! and I thought my genius was showing off because I specified the last letter of Reid H-O-R-T-O-N'S last name!! 06/25/08 03:03 PM #72 EDIT DELETE Lynn Hayes Does anyone know were I can get up with Kenny Jones OR Chad Thompson (Chad is from the class of 1989) if anyone can help just let me know thanks 06/26/08 04:17 PM #73 EDIT DELETE Reid Howard I ran into Kenny Jones at the Food Lion in FV a month or so ago. I got his email and sent him the link. But feel free to reach out to him: kennywadejones@yahoo.com I think he is getting married in October, right around the reunion. 07/01/08 02:57 PM #74 EDIT DELETE Lynn Hayes Thank you very much reid 07/02/08 08:39 AM #75 EDIT DELETE Ward Proctor Not to go off subject....but can the latest poll be modified to offer Jason's Pizza as a favorite Senior lunch spot? 07/02/08 03:05 PM #76 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson Hello to all..hope you all are getting ready for a great 4th..I know I am! Which brings me to realize that our 20th Reunion is approaching quickly. Before you know it summer will be over, the kids will be back in school and Football will be starting! YEAH!! (I love me some football) I just wanted to post something encouraging all of you who have said you are coming and those who have not decided yet to please get your money sent in so that we can KNOW for definate how many are coming. It has been a lot of fun, as well as a lot of work, to put together this special event and It would be heartbreaking to have to cancel it because we dont have enough people coming...SO PLEASE, PLEASE..if you are coming, get your money in before August 1st so that we will know if we can carry on planning this special event. IT IS GOING TO BE A lOT OF FUN!!! I hope you all will plan to be there! It will be great to see everyone! Take care! 07/02/08 06:38 PM #77 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith Amen Betty. Sorry for leaving off Jason's Pizza Ward. That was definitely an oversight. Vote again! 07/03/08 02:25 PM #78 EDIT DELETE Van Hyder MMMMMM Jason's Pizza! Degreaser, utensils, papers..... I had to explain to my boys what degreaser is... my wife wasn't too impressed We need to meet there for lunch sometime. Maybe we can invite the Raychem guys and eat all the pizza before they get a single slice. I remember those fun Monday film sessions after eating at least 6 pieces. Good times....good times 07/03/08 04:28 PM #79 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson WISHING EVERYONE A HAPPY AND SAFE HOLIDAY!!!! 07/06/08 10:51 AM #80 EDIT DELETE Shannon Hilliard Berndt First, I would like to formally acknowledge how shitty I was to Cheryl Page and say how incredibly brave I think her profile writing is. She called us out - its about time, and I know I for one deserved it. Second - Whoo Hoo! Ann Tolar is found! I was imagining what her first posting would be like and I have to say, it was pretty close to what I expected. Thanks for putting some life back into this bunch. Lastly, I am and have always been a huge slacker. I haven't mailed my check. I hope to do it now, but I doubt it. Usually, after my final "ok this is it, slacker, you have no choice, it must me done NOW, " it still takes me another two weeks. I can't even believe my son was born on time (then again, that wasn't really up to me)! So, Jenni, send me a harrassing email for Monday morning so it will draw my attention to it again - I am actually being serious and not a smarta** - I know with me it is hard to tell the difference. It has been so awesome connecting with you all again. Can I say "awesome" or it that too dated? 07/06/08 09:52 PM #81 EDIT DELETE Kerry Meador Ferrell I agree with Shannon, Cheryl is a very brave person. I have a daughter who is picked on in school now. I see first hand what it does to a child. Cheryl and I were very good friends when we were younger. She was a very sweet girl and did not deserve how she was treated. I do not remember if I ever said anything, but I do know I never stood up for her either. I am going to let both my teenagers read Cheryl's very brave post and I hope they can learn from her. I too am a "slacker" ....send me a reminder also Jenni :-) 07/14/08 08:49 PM #82 EDIT DELETE Cheryl Page Wise To Shannon, Jenni and Kerry- I just wanted to thank you guys. I didnt expect anyone to really care. It's been so long ago. Kerry we did have a lot of good times. Driving your mom crazy was probably the best. Through out time I dont think the popularity or the way everyone choose their groups will change. As I had written in my profile. I have sort of made my child "think she is the "sh--" with all the great clothes and all the Ipod's..Games..Digital Camera's and anything she wants. She smart but she's got that attituded that I hated. Trying to change that now. Thanks so much for "CARING" 07/15/08 08:55 AM #83 EDIT DELETE Ann Tolar Cheshire Hello All – (please excuse me for my long posts – I can’t seem to edit my fingers any better than I can tame my big mouth. I openly acknowledge the flaw, but alas, am hopelessly unable to correct it…) Having said that…here comes another War and Peace length saga… I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. I love the 4th of July. I didn’t know how much I did until my first Fourth in England. I was sort of torn…there’s the old “when in Rome” adage, but it seemed just nasty, hot, and sticky wrong to NOT celebrate. Soooo, I had a cook out in my back yard (they say back GARDEN – I say yard) and bought the cheesiest fireworks ever. Finding that a little too reserved for my tastes, the next year, I jumped up on my desk in protest for having to work on the Fourth, waved a tiny American flag, and sang The Star Spangled Banner at the top of my lungs. My assistant put the intercom on as well, so my escapades were heard all over the building. The following year, I had the Fourth off ;-) * Ohhhhhhhh…Jason’s Pizza. Now there was some good eatin’! I hold them directly responsible for the enormity of my left butt cheek. * Okay, Reid Howard :-) I’ll wait til the reunion for you to fill me in on the Malia drama. I plan on getting a room at the hotel, so we can stay up all night and dish if necessary. We’ll just make sure the windows are locked so we don’t feel inclined to recreate the moment. * Kerry – I am truly sorry to hear that your daughter is getting picked on. As the official “fat chick” throughout my entire school career, I get how painful the jokes can be. I remember one of those shirt signing days we used to have. I was so excited that so many people wanted to sign my shirt. Until I got home…at least 15 people had written “Where’s the beef?” Right on my behind. That sure knocked the wind right out of my little sails. But your daughter can rise above the pain and shame. The trick (for me at least) is to find something to take the focus off the source of the ridicule. Whether it be talent, personality, or humor, the more you show your attributes, the more hidden your flaws become. Having said that, it still sucks big frog butts to be laughed at, picked on, singled out, or bullied. I wish you and your daughter luck on dealing with and hopefully overcoming the bad behavior of others. Regarding the shirt thing…I still have that little piece of my history…but instead of hurting me now, it just reminds me that yes, I am fat, HOWEVER, at least I am creative enough to not steal commercial tag lines and others’ sentiments when I feel the need to express myself. Fat is correctable…boring is forever ;-) * Cheryl – What a brave and heartfelt post. Nothing will ever undo the hurt you felt, but by expressing your feelings, you likely helped some other people who feel/felt the same way you did/do. And also, by discussing it, you opened a door for yourself that others can now walk through. In 7th grade there was a boy (I won’t mention names, he can identify himself if he wants to) who hated me and picked on me all the time. I hated him as well and from what I recall, I either threatened to hit him on the back of the head with a book, or I actually DID hit him. (Knowing me back then, I likely knocked the fool out of him.) We were in Mrs. Weathers’ class, and the book was the last straw. She sent us to the principal’s office. We were forced to talk, to apologize, and to shake hands. Our relationship certainly did not improve right away, but by senior year, I had an amazing amount of respect for him, considered him a friend, and still count him as one of the people I miss most from school. Maybe with your post, you visited your own virtual principal’s office. With your words and Shannon’s reply, perhaps the animosity y’all felt in the past will lead you to a friendship in the future. As for me, if I did or said anything to hurt you (and again, knowing who I was then, I probably did) I apologize. If you ever want or need to talk about it, my e-door is always open. * Betty and Jenni – Okay, here’s my vision. We get all the members of the band to play, all the original singers to sing and do the little hand movements, Ward and Sean to play guitar, Arnie to break dance, Monique can sashay about in her big puffy sleeved dress, Van can shake some degreaser maraca style, and someone can use Ward’s goat cheese containers as bongos. Shoot – who needs a DJ? We’ve got our own band…The Reunionators? Stand by We? VarinaPurina? We’ll keep working on the name :-) Hey, if we work really hard, maybe we can come up with 88 members for our band. Then we can go on Letterman and start a big fund raising drive for our 25th reunion…or perhaps I should just go lie down with a cold compress for a long while… No, really, Reid (Horton that is) is trying to come to the reunion, and if he can, we’ll get together with Jenni on the singing thing. Y’all might be very sorry for asking, and I recommend ear plugs for all, because I don’t know about Reid, but to say I’m a little rusty is an understatement. I gave up the microphone for the keyboard a long time ago. I mean, a song is only 4 minutes long, but I can go on for hours…as you can see…with a comfy chair, a PC, and a spell checking program. Anyway…I’m shutting up now. No really, I am… Ann p.s. I mailed my check yesterday. Since Johnnie Depp and Sig from Deadliest Catch were both unavailable on the 11th, I’ll be bringing my fiancé. I got engaged in Charleston last week. There was this sailor on the beach and he’d had a few…..nahhh…just kidding. I’ve been dating Chuck for a couple of years and he surprised me while we were on vacation. Too bad for Johnnie and Sig… 07/15/08 04:40 PM #84 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith FYI, there are new pictures on the memories page compliments of Jennifer and Ann. Also, the money is starting to trickle in! Thanks everyone. Check the Who's Coming box on Tuesday and Friday for updates. Also, Lisa was on Channel 5 this morning. Watch out Valonda Calloway! http://www.wral.com/lifestyles/food/video/3209542/ Ann you have plenty of time to warm up those vocal cords. Also Tara needs to practice so she can sing but we can't find her!!!! We sent a postcard to an address I found in Rock Hill but I haven't heard a thing and I can't find a phone number. Does anyone know how to get in touch with her and Patrick? She will be disappointed if this goes on without her. There are also others we haven't been able to find. Please help us find them. If they do not have a symbol by there name we have not heard from them. I am sure the deadline will be extended for those who do not know. 07/15/08 08:56 PM #85 EDIT DELETE Lorie Sears Howerton Ann... Exactally how far down did you have to dig to find those middle school pictures. And here I thought they were being burned to protect the innocent!!! HAHA!!! 07/16/08 06:45 PM #86 EDIT DELETE Ann Tolar Cheshire * Lorie - You'd be surprised to know how little looking I actually had to do. I am a hopeless packrat and I have almost every little memento from school I ever had. (Seriously, I even still have the little prom programs with the pencils attached and that graduation t-shirt with everyone's name in our class on it.) It's my sad and private shame :-0 * Jenni - The memory page looks great. Thanks for all your hard work. Also, I sent an email to a Lisa Hayden who I HOPE is OUR Lisa Hayden. If I hear anything, I'll let ya know. * Lisa - How cute are you on TV? I had never seen you before, but you were so great. You've got that whole Kyra Sedgwick meets Rachael Ray thing going on...Look at all of us...20 years later and we're still so fabulous - or as Shannon would say "awesome" :-) Ann 07/16/08 06:51 PM #87 EDIT DELETE Audra Turner Holland Hey, congratulations on your engagement, Ann! And sorry, Drew is not allowed to wear that crazy pirate costume again. Especially not to the reunion. Gave him a pompous attitude. Not allowed to swagger either. So sorry, not even fake Johnny Depp. Take care. 07/16/08 08:26 PM #88 EDIT DELETE Ann Tolar Cheshire Hey, how cool is this...while looking for Lisa Hayden, I found that her sister, Lori, is a Guamanian star athlete. She's a bodybuilder, like Smitty, and she's won loads of stuff. She was a year behind us, and she was always a very sweet girl. Check out some of the sites I found her on... http://musclepolynesia.com/MuscleIsle/ http://www.search-female-physique.com/4images/details.php?image_id=2303 07/18/08 04:23 PM #89 EDIT DELETE Arnie Bullock I felt compelled to post a message since I've done nothing but read this forum this afternoon. She passed away on Friday July 25th as well. It is sad about Donald and his family, my prayers go out to them. That makes you really think about what you have and how quick it can be gone. 07/30/08 05:58 PM #100 EDIT DELETE Lisa Bullock Prince Robin, I did not know that about Ms. Stuart. She was a great teacher! I sat behind Reid in Social Studies for that class. She taught me what tricadecaphobia is (fear of the #13) and who's real name is Marion Morrison? I'm also brewing some mead (honeywine), may be ready by then. We'll see. The "sampling" so far has it tastin pretty good. 09/02/08 05:50 PM #126 EDIT DELETE Reid Horton Hello everybody! I just wanted to say that my family and I are making the drive from Oklahoma to see all of you at the reunion! I am excited to see you all and hear how you all are doing. Lisa, I watched the video of you on the WRAL. You go girl! You looked completely natural and at ease. I do have to say that you don't realize it until you see (or should I say hear) it on video but the North Carolina drawl is unmistakable. My wife says I have lost most of mine. I haven't decided yet if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I too must say as so many others have already that Cheryl was very brave to post what she did. I never would have known that she ever dealt with anything like that. I know what it is like to want to be part of the "in" crowd. I agree with Ann is that you have to focus on your strengths and try your best to deal with the negative comments from others. I am so thankful for the musicals that we did at FV because I found a niche that suited me and was able to find some level of "popularity" through music and drama. Although I'm not really sure that "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" was a good choice in judgment. I paid dearly for that one. The older I get the more I realize that it isn't as important what others think about you. What is most important is what you think of yourself. Popularity is relative. Some people would have considered me popular even though I didn't think of myself that way. I'm sure there were things all of us dealt with that we wished we could have shared with others or we wish would have never happened. The life of a teenager was hard then but it is so much more difficult now. May we all learn from our mistakes and teach our children to be kinder, gentler, bolder, and more generous than we were. Cheryl- lots of love to you and if there was ever anything I did or said to hurt or embarrass you in any way, please accept my humble apology. I am looking forward to being together with all of you soon. Reid (Horton not Howard) :) 09/02/08 09:46 PM #127 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith Looking forward to seeing you Reid! I kept saying Saturday that a week from today we will be at the reunion : ) See you all soon!!!! 10/07/08 12:20 PM #152 EDIT DELETE Ann Tolar Cheshire Hello My Orange Friends - So I see I have missed much in my hiatus which I will explain in just a sec... First, I am soooo looking forward to Saturday. I won't be able to make the football game on Friday as I am moving on Nov 1st. I mentioned what a packrat I am...well I am moving into a four bedroom house and I swear, I don't have a clue where Chuck (fiancé) will put his stuff when he moves in after the wedding. I think he'll have to sleep outside on the porch. My dog agrees whole-heartedly as he's completely unwilling to give up his side of the bed. Reid Horton - Tiptoe Through the Tulips . bahahahaha I had forgotten about that one. Yep. you did pay dearly for that little stroll :-) Drive safely…I know you have plenty of show tunes memorized to keep you busy on the trip. Hey, maybe now’s a good time to teach the kids how to Tiptoe…or perhaps not… Sadly, I have been unable to locate Lisa Hayden. If anyone has any ideas, please sling them my way. So we are still having the reunion at the same hotel, but just at the bottom of the tower rather than at the top…am I right, or has that changed? And door prizes, I LOVE door prizes…is Ward giving away any cheese? What about Arnie? Is he giving away free anti-bankruptcy insurance to get us through the financial collapse? Is Lisa bringing some shrimp? Happy Birthday to everyone who celebrated while I was away. I had a birthday recently – my 29th – as y’all recall I was much, much younger than the rest of you in high school … ahem … anyway. I was actually in the hospital on my birthday. The Cliff Notes of my adventure are basically that I had a bad asthma attack which when treated with a large IV dose of epinephrine led to a heart attack which led to various injections of various medications which led to an infection which led to a surgery which led to several days on my back in the hospital which led to pneumonia which led to yet more drugs. So, after 3 hospitals, 2 ambulance rides, 2 surgeries, and enough drugs to fall a rhino, I finally left the hospital blessedly without a tag on my toe. The good news (for me at least – others – say my ex-husband - my feel otherwise) is there is absolutely nothing wrong with my heart, and there was no permanent damage from the epi induced attack. Also, I am perfectly fine now, and will still be able to come to the reunion. (Please. Please. don't all clap at once, she says sarcastically so no on thinks she's really THAT full of herself.) Anywho – I hope everyone is doing well, and I look very forward to having a great time with you on Saturday night. P.S. I remembered one of my favorite school memories…I keep thinking about Leigh Ragan a lot of late. We took a couple of trips to the beach together back in middle school or early high school. Once, we went just for the day with my Dad. We absolutely tortured that poor man all the way there and back by playing the Fat Boys tape nonstop. And I just have to give props where they are due, because Leigh was a great beat-boxer back in the day. I think that was the same trip (Leigh correct me if I am wrong) we also went fishing with Dad. That day, I was forever and completely psychologically traumatized. One of us caught a Croaker fish, it was likely my Dad because Leigh and I were basically just taking turns holding the pole. He was very small, and we had to throw him back. Well, when trying to take the hook out of his mouth, I very inadvertently pulled the poor fellow’s lips right off. No, seriously, all that was left on that hook when I’d finished was this fat, round circle of fish lips. I was horrified when Daddy threw the fish in the sea because I just knew that salt waster was burning his poor lip stumps like crazy. Since then, I have been convinced that there is a fish swimming around saying, “Whad kidda idiot dulls dumone’s dips off?” Now tell me – how do I live with that kind of shame?!?!? I can’t look a fish or hear 80s rap today without recalling Leigh and I on our Fat Fish Boy Lip day at the beach. 10/07/08 01:26 PM #153 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith Good gracious Ann, Wish we would have known you were in the hospital. We could have brought a casserole. Glad you are ok. By the way Lisa made sure that there would be shrimp at the reunion. She is not fixing it though. 10/07/08 09:06 PM #154 EDIT DELETE Robin Bryant Lipscomb anyone checked out Adele's website she is the most famous person I used to know look forward to seeing everyone and hearing all about their lives now. 10/07/08 09:53 PM #155 EDIT DELETE Ann Tolar Cheshire Thanks Jenni - I love casseroles :-) And I'd have enjoyed it as well. I mean really, there is only so much warm J-ello one can eat. And my question is, how do hospitals manage to make every color of J-ello taste the same as the next. You'd think red would be cherry and green would be lime, but in reality (if such thing exists in hospitals) it all just tastes kind of fruitish. It is kind of a warm, fruitish-flavored, plastic, jiggly blob...sort of a microwaved fruit roll up on steroids. And Robin, Adele's site is cool. I have no idea who half of those people are, but they look important and their hair is fabulous :-) I did not remember that Adele left Fuquay in her junior year. She was in my homeroom, so I should have remembered, but the old noodle is not at all what it used to be. Not that it ever was ;-) Ann 10/08/08 07:03 AM #156 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson Ann, we are greatful that you are doing well now and will make it to the reunion. Adele's website is off the hook! She has been a busy woman and I just want to travel with her and be her sidekick at all these wonderful events she goes to. Only a couple more days. WOW..it is hard to believe this time next week it will be a memory! Everyone pray NO RAIN for Friday night. The football game will be a lot of fun too! I look forward to seeing you all at both events...and THANK YOU FOR THE MESSAGES...I thought I was the only one addicted to this website! HA HA! (P.S. To everyone who is traveling-BE SAFE!) 10/09/08 03:12 PM #157 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson ONLY ONE MORE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10/09/08 04:07 PM #158 EDIT DELETE Deborah Mayo Mitchell Can we park in the Clarion parking deck or will we need to park on the street or other parking? 10/10/08 12:50 AM #159 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson Sure you can park in the parking deck or there is additional parking in a lot beside hotel. It should be able to accomodate us. If anyone has a larger vehicle you may want to park in the lot. The parking deck is round like the hotel and it a bit compact. 10/12/08 08:21 PM #160 EDIT DELETE Lisa Bullock Prince What a fabulous night!!! It was great to see everyone and I hope everyone had a great time. Just reminded me of what a wonderful class 1988 was and still is to this day. Please keep updating your profiles. I love seeing all the pictures and hearing how everyone is doing. Take care and I hope to see all of you and more in 5 years :) 10/13/08 07:25 AM #161 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson WOW! What a great REUNION WEEKEND we had. Starting with a fun time at the FVHS football game (GO BENGALS), the guys playing golf and then a Night to Remember! It is hard to believe it is over! I am sad that it is now just a memory! I had a great time and thanks to all my fellow Class of 88 people that got on that dance floor and was breaking it down with me and Annette! I have to give a special shout out the the guys, Kent, Marty and Harrison...YOU GUYS CAN STILL SHAKE THAT THANG! I am still recuperating from all the dancing! HA HA! The night was perfect! Reid and Ann you both did such a great job singing our class song! I am so glad you did that for us. Thanks to Lisa & Robert, Reid Howard, Jenni & David, Bo & Paige, Royd, and my husband Eddie for helping me set up the decorations for the reunion. It was beautiful! Thanks to all that helped with taking the decorations down also! I just want to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know everyone on the reunion committee. It was great working with all of you and I will miss seeing you all each month. EVERYONE PLEASE KEEP IN TOUCH THROUGH THE WEBSITE AND UPDATE YOUR PROFILES AND PICS REGULARLY! I miss you all already! Take care! and GOD BLESS! 10/13/08 02:16 PM #162 EDIT DELETE Lorie Sears Howerton Hey All!! Great great night!!! The list is way to long but thanks to everyone who had a hand in making Saturday night one of the best reunions yet!! Ann, Reid, great job to both of you! It was just like old times! Kent, could you get out of bed the next morning? :) I hope we all can keep in touch through this site until it's time for our 25th!! 10/13/08 04:54 PM #163 EDIT DELETE Ann Tolar Cheshire Hello My Fellow Reunionites - I think the reunion must have somehow altered my biorhythms as it is 3PM (rather than AM) and I am awake. Ooh, ooh...that reminds me of a pet peeve...don't you hate it when people say "It was 3AM in the morning"? I DO!! I mean, that's like saying my leg is fractured broken, or I like icy iced tea, or my butt is big and large...it just makes no sense. Someone get Mrs. Powell on this right away. She'll know what to do. She'll red-pen this problem and send it back from whence it came with all those misplaced prepositions and dangling modifiers! (Are they anything like hanging chads, I wonder…maybe we should get her working on that as well.) Anyway, I digress; which, no doubt, I will do again, since I find that the shortest route between two points is at least two trips around my aforementioned rotund derrière. Where was I...oh yes, reunion. It was amazing. If you missed it, we missed you. Thank you so much to all the folks who worked so hard to make the night the success that it was. I know y'all got sick of bar-b-que, but there must have been something in the sauce because it gave you great ideas, energy, dedication, and fabulous attire. I just can't believe how great EVERYONE looked. I can honestly say that I never once looked at any of you and thought "what the heck happened there?" I DO, however admit to ogling several of you and thinking HOT DANG...had you looked like that in high school, your name would have been in BIG letters on my Duran Duran spiral notebook. Shoot - let's be honest - were you not married and I not engaged, I'd have written your names in Sharpie on my PC monitor when I got home and put big glitter hearts all over my desk :-O Okay...top ten highlights of the night...for me, anyway... 10 - Seeing that none of us showed up in prison stripes or had to call our parole officers during the party. 9 - Seeing that Audra Turner Holland (who looked wonderful and has a body I'd sell my Rick Springfield collection for) did not show up with Johnnie Depp. As he had told me he had an important Hollywood function to attend, it would have really ruined my night to see him with my old pal Audra. 8 - Fashion, fashion, fashion…from Jenni Powell Keith’s fan-dag-on-tabulous orange, suede jacket to Tara Spence Smith’s beautiful State red number, to Betsy Spainhour Boger’s little black dress, to Van (Spyder) Hyder rocking the suspenders, to Patrick Smith (who let’s face it would look good in bowling shoes and a hefty sack) in his black and white get-up, to Annette Wimberly Smith who ALWAYS knew how to dress for a good party, to Leigh Ragan who has the body I was always meant to have (and would seriously consider a steady diet of tapeworms and Ex-lax to get), to the two Reids…one with a smoking new body and the other with much-improved, ever so chic glasses, we proved that not only were we still full of spirit (and spirits…ahem…) but that we were all just full of hotness waiting to burst out. In the immortal words of Hammer, anyone who sees our pictures will surely agree…You Can’t Touch This class!! 7 – Bald men…YES, I said it! Bald is beautiful, and though I dug the long hair in high school, I have to say that your mother’s were right in telling you all to cut your hair. So whether it be scissors, clippers, genetics, or your kids growing up to be just like you were that brought about your new, er...how shall I say...more frugal styles, I think we had a seriously delicious group of shinny-headed dudes! 6 – The parking lot…It was old times out there, fer sure, fer sure. Really, with all the smoke, chatter, and hee-hawing, it was just like the courtyard during freshman year or the bathroom during any subsequent year. For those of you who missed it, there were rickshaws, men dressed as women (not too well disguised, I might add), men trying to pick up said men before realizing their error, Mr. Parker (Eddie’s daddy) sitting in the lobby as if he was just waiting to throw us all in the station wagon with that big old cell phone in a bag he had and take us to the nearest Aerosmith concert, Mon-i-que’s hysterical husband keeping us all in stitches with his antics and stories, a gentleman (and I use that term with all due sarcasm and questionable respect) claiming to be Obama’s long-lost brother, and his equally gentile friend who offered to show me the night of my life which no doubt would include half a bottle of Mad Dog and some recycled pizza if I’d just agree to come away with him. I had to let the poor fellow down gently and tell him that I was betrothed to another, but we figured when the man in the dress came back, he’d likely be in business…if ya know what I mean, Vern! So, like any writer worth her salt (actually, I prefer pepper) I shall leave you in suspense and send this now before it is so long no one can be bothered to read it. I’ll be back later to offer my final 5 moments and any more completely irrelevant thoughts, comments, or asides that I have dreamt up… For now, I’ll just say that I am a better person today for having spent Saturday night with you all, and I can’t wait to start planning our 25th. Although, I’m up for a 21st if anyone else is. I say we rent the old McDonald’s and throw ourselves a 21st birthday party that will make Paris Hilton’s celebrations look like the Denny’s Birthday Special. To be continued… p.s. Serena Kithcart Favorite…say hello to all the ladies at your work for me :-) p.p.s. Van, no worries, my friend…I too write this in Word, spell check it within an inch of its life, then paste it into the message area ;-) Clearly I was too busy coming up Tolacious quotes in Mrs. Powell's class to pay attention to grammar and spelling. 10/13/08 11:11 PM #164 EDIT DELETE Reid Howard Hey Ann, You crack me UP! I was at the game on Friday night and I was sitting beside Arnie. He and I were speaking of you and he kept mentioning you and saying everytime he was around you in HS, he had to bend over from just LAUGHING : ) You have kept this forum going and it's always just a pleasure reading what you write! Mrs. Powell would be so proud!!! Not so sure of Mrs. Malia...LOLOLOL :) Sure hope we can keep this going for the next year, and the next 5!! Great times on Friday and Saturday night! Take care!!! 10/14/08 07:31 AM #165 EDIT DELETE Leigh Ragan Watson Ann - you have got to keep writing to us. It makes my day when there is a message from you. By the way, I do remember that fish who lost his lips. I think that we laughed until we cried. I wish we could have all spent one more day together. The reunion was great and I second that all of you have aged very well. Thanks to all of you who helped to organize the reunion. I miss you already too!!! 10/14/08 10:11 AM #166 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith Send me your pictures from Friday night! For some reason I think some people are missing from my group shot. (Melissa, Shannon, Patrick where were you?) We started planning this thing in February. 8 months later it is over in 4 hours. IT WAS WORTH IT! There were a lot of people involved that you never saw in the planning pictures. Lorie should be a PI (instead of the one that someone hired to attend the reunion but that is a whole different post :-) That girl will track you down. Arnie planned the golf tournament and brought us some goodies. He also found some folks. A big thanks to Ann and Reid for supplying the entertainment. How brave was that? They have not sung together in 20 years! They practiced for 5 minutes and wow they were fabulous! Sorry about the speaker placement. That was the only thing I would change. That and the fact I didn't win a door prize. Did you see the ring that Keith won? 10/15/08 12:07 AM #167 EDIT DELETE Adele Thorpe HEY YALL, it was great seeing everyone.I'm so glad I was able to come an hang out and see you guys at least the ones I remember. Thanks again Jenny and Lisa keep in touch all of you.GOD BLESS. 10/15/08 12:43 PM #168 EDIT DELETE Kelley Brown Newsome That sure was a whole lotta fun. The only thing I didn't like was that I couldn't talk to everyone! Thanks to all that put in their time to make it happen. If any of ya are up here in the NC mountains, stop and sit a spell on the porch with me. Let me know first so my neighbor doesn't greet you with a gun....(true story). The colors up here have just turned and the mountains look quite orange/red. Looks like this weekends going to be peak fall! Come up and see us now, ya hear? Preciate cha! 10/15/08 06:53 PM #169 EDIT DELETE Lisa Bullock Prince Kelly, Sounds just beautiful! Makes me want to run up there this weekend and I would if it wasn't for the fair. I hate we never got the chance to chat and catch up at the reunion. You are right, just not enough time. You looked great by the way. Take care and if I'm up that way I just might drop by :) Lisa 10/15/08 10:24 PM #170 EDIT DELETE Kelley Brown Newsome Thankee Lisa! You, and many others have yet to experience the aging process. If anything ya'll have gotten even more gorgeous! Funny how there were some that looked different. Not bad at all, just like they turned into different people. Anyway, I wanted to talk agriculture with you Lisa. There's a big wave of support for local farmers out here and I wanted to pick your brain on all things green and growing. You just bring yourself and family on up here. We'll have a hillbilly good time with a Kelleyfied organic food, latte's and accordion twist. OK, I can keep the accordion in the closet if that scares you too much..... 10/16/08 04:06 PM #171 EDIT DELETE Serena Kithcart Favorite Hi Guys. I had the best time even if the night did go by in a flash. To the planning committee, you all did a splendid job! Everything looked great. It was such a pleasure seeing everybody and watching us all enjoy each other. To Ann, the ladies and I are so looking forward to 5 – 1. I love it, please keep them coming :-) There were quite a few that I didn’t get around to speaking with but I will get you next time. To everybody, take care, be blessed and GO VOTE!!! 10/17/08 02:48 AM #172 EDIT DELETE Ann Tolar Cheshire Howdy Bengal Buds – I had not meant to stay away so long, but I am still (and likely forever) packing up this house so I can move on the 1st. It looks like I am preparing to join a fraternity in here…I have so many liquor bottle boxes surrounding me, I think I may be coming down with a mild case of cirrhosis – or at the very least, a mild hangover. I hope my pastor does not decide to drop by…I am a Baptist, and this just would not do. He would think that one night in Raleigh would have sent me backsliding halfway to hell. Hey, that reminds me of a joke…What is the difference between a Baptist and a Methodist? The Methodist will talk to you in the liquor store ;-) Speaking of booze…that brings me back to my personal Top 10 Highlights of our glorious reunion… 5 – Observing my friends drinking alcohol without worrying if one or all of us were about to be arrested. I recall Myrtle Beach weekend after graduation…before my little crew of roomies even left Fuquay, we made a booze stop at an unnamed location of an unmanned older brother of an unnamed friend…allegedly. We filled our trunk with (and I am NOT embellishing or making this up) more peach schnapps, Everclear, and cheap tequila than you’d find at an upscale massage parlor in a Calcutta ghetto. Someone else (also unnamed) rounded off the haul with a generous supply of Southern Comfort, which I am sure is made from Vicks 44 and old shoe leather. If that is Southern Comfort, I say we all head to Canada. Anyway, men drinking beer – good beer – like the highbrow stuff they sell posh little pubs. I swear, I saw not even ONE can of Old Milwaukee. And the women drinking wine – not Boones Farm Strawberry, but actual-had a cork in it at one time-wine. Now, don’t get me wrong…I am not endorsing drinking. Personally, I don’t drink at all anymore. That’s not a judgment…I have too many planks in my eyes to worry about anyone else’s splinters…it is simply a choice. Anyway, I was just amazed that we were all old enough and financially comfortable enough to not be slamming Bartles and James and Pabst Blue Ribbon behind the McDonalds just waiting for Rome Norris to catch us and call our parents. (Now, Serena, you can explain that one to the ladies at work.. Your step dad scared me to death! I was more afraid of him than I was my OWN daddy! :-0 ) 4 - The slide show. I LOVED seeing all of our great – and especially our goofy – pictures. Now, having said that, I must insist on knowing who sent in the picture of me dancing in Grease while standing over Scott Knight. Well, you can’t really call it dancing – I DON’T DANCE! I have so little rhythm that clapping strains my comfort zone and people offer their condolences over my epilepsy when I leave the dance floor. In that picture, I was so close to a psychotic break that I should have been mainlining Lithium and Valium backstage. I was terrified that I’d either 1) fall on poor Scott, which would have very likely left him sterile, traumatized, and nursing a broken pelvis. 2) I’d fall off the stage exposing my nether regions complete with granny panties to the entire front row which would have no doubt been filled with every boy I had ever had a crush on AND their hysterically laughing girlfriends. Or 3) That I would expose myself while attempting to avoid items 1 and 2 thus allowing Scott (who I DID have a huge crush on) to see straight up my dress and, of course, see the big old granny panties. And the sick thing is that the only reason I broke out the big drawers was because I was afraid Scott would see up my dress and if that happened, it was not like I could have on a thong or anything – that would just be wrong on so many levels I can’t even get my mind to wander there. See it is like a chicken and egg thing…a cyclical deal…which came first…the granny drawers or the fear of the granny drawers? The fact that I was no doubt out of my mind then for even thinking such thoughts or the fact that I’ve had a true break with reality and am actually admitting these thoughts 20 years later? Maybe I need to get a hold of some of that Lithium now… Anyway (she says coming out of the rabbit hole she so bizarrely and inexplicably crawled into) I loved seeing all the pictures flash before my eyes. It was so hysterically entertaining and downright interesting to watch you all on the screen as little people and then look at you now all married and babyfied. I especially loved the ones of Ward and Sean getting down with their bad selves as The World Ends Tuesday, Jason Wall vogue-ing it up for the camera in his track uniform, the ever so attractive (cough, snort, hiccup) swimwear being modeled by Arnie, Bo, Kent, and others, Lisa Bullock Prince’s ALWAYS perfect hair (unbelievably, she’s prettier today than she was then…I gotta get her recipe…ba dum dum), the boys playing poker which I think should certainly be titled “Dawgs Playing Poker”, Arnie sitting beside a sign that reads “Spectacles” – snort – that’s a keeper for sure, and the one of Ginger and Lorie as well as the one with Biscuit and Lisa Hayden…gosh, they just melt my heart…I LOVE those!! 3 – The people who have not changed a bit!! I mean, Jenni Powell Keith could have walked up to me in the middle of a filled to capacity European soccer stadium and I’d have known who she was. Melissa Farmer Byrd and Kelley Brown Newsome could have just run in off the track field, changed into all their party finery, and convinced me I was in a time warp. Angela Allen Sanders and Sharon Worth-a-ham Boyce looked exactly the same with the big hair and the big smiles and the beautiful personalities they’ve always had, and Belinda Thornton, Jerome Ragland, and Kerry Meador Ferrell still look just as young and happy and full of life as they did in the yearbook. But (for me) by far the most amazing-I’m really in 1988 all over again-you have not changed a bit-I’d know you were I drunk in a dark alley- person was Donald Murdaugh. Donald, I don’t know what you’re doing, but DANG!!! Actually, I am, at this point, pretty convinced that Donald had himself cryogenically frozen after graduation and he just defrosted himself on Saturday morning. He has NO lines, NO wrinkles, NO gray hair, NO scars, knicks, cuts, age spots, bad teeth, receding hairs, hairs where there shouldn’t be hairs, or bodily flaws that I can see. He’s his own identical twin who just happened to be born 20 years after he was. It was amazing – it was like looking in a backwards, age regressing mirror. Same huge smile, same sweet disposition, same everything. It was wonderful to see him (as it would have been had he looked totally different) and it was delightfully surreal! I could not take my eyes off him…he’s probably taken out a restraining order against me at this point because I was freaking him out with all the staring. No worries, though, Donald. I admit to being certifiable (I mean, come on, I just talked about my underwear on a public forum) but I’m not dangerous…just mesmerized! Okay, only 2 more to do – and I’ll do them later. I did want to thank everyone for all the nice comments about Reid and me singing (trust me, it was mostly Reid…he can do amazing things with harmony that I can’t even begin to fathom.) He’s the yen to my yang, he’s the veggies in my soup, sniff, sniff, he’s the wind beneath my wings. Actually, Reid has had a huge influence on my life. Part of the reason that I am a Christian today is because of the time and effort Reid put into me years ago. He was and is a wonderful human being and friend. Also, I really appreciate all the comments about my writing here. I hope that no one thinks I am trying to show off or anything like that. I just love to write and I am hugely excited to be back in touch with all of you. They say old friends are the best friends, and the past few months have certainly proven that to me. The thing about old friends is they know who you were, they know the mistakes you made, and they know what you’re capable of. But in spite of all that, they still like you :-) Lorie – a BIG think you to you for unearthing me from my rock. You were creative, industrious, and persistent…and I’m glad you did not give up on finding me. You can detect me anytime! Adele – I don’t recall seeing you. Do I have temporary amnesia again? Or did we just miss each other? Kelley – I am so sorry we did not have more time together. But next time, we’ll have to reserve ourselves a table, kick our feet up, listen to you play the accordion, and stare at Donald together while we catch up. Reid Howard and Arnie – now see, I never thought I was funny in high school. I thought y’all were funny. That’s likely why there was so much laughing – I was laughing at you, you were laughing at me laughing at you, others were looking at us wondering why we were laughing, and then they started laughing at all the laughing. It was no doubt quite funny – snort – I’d have laughed. Leigh – I am so glad you remember the fish lips thing. I can still see us laying there on what was basically the kitchen table (remember that fold down jobby we slept on?), listening non-stop to Prince (trying desperately to figure out the dirty lyrics to 1999) and laughing hysterically about all manner of things. Those remain some of the best weekends of my life, and you were a great friend to me. And I’ll never forget that tumble you took down the slopes when we went skiing with MYF…the way they had you covered up, we were all scared that you were really hurt, but you sat up laughing because that little boy had asked his daddy if you were dead. See – you just gotta love a person who can laugh when they’re dead ;-) Jenni – I too was highly upset that I did not win a door prize. Next time we’ll have to rig that sucker good so you and I can get a little something, something. Can you arrange for there to be two prizes from Anne’s Diamond center? I mean, I like all of you, y’all are pretty cool – but diamonds – now we’re talking friends. And no…I did not see the ring Keith won. Can you mail it to me so I can have a look at it? I’ll send it back – no really, I will ... no, seriously :-) Okay – I’m done, and I’m going to bed where I shall no doubt dream about frozen underpants, diamond encrusted wine coolers, and Reid Howard and Arnie laughing at me as I try to dance. I hope this finds everyone well, happy, safe (do we know if Reid and Royd got home safely?) and blessed. Arnie Bullock Ahh, well done Ann. What a great time on Sat. night. Actually, the whole weekend was a blast. I propose we have some sort of gathering each year, even if it's just hanging out in the high school parking lot before a football game. We could designate the Homecoming game each year. With that said, Fuquay's homecoming is coming up next Friday (10/24). I'll be there with my little Bengals, AJ and Joseph!! 10/17/08 11:36 PM #174 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith Ann, it was me. I had the picture. If Scott ever saw up your dress he never told. So all is good. Can't wait for two and one. I am posting pictures from the reunion daily. If you have reunion pictures you would like to post e-mail them to me. 87's site has different pictures than ours. Hop over there and check it out. 10/18/08 05:51 AM #175 EDIT DELETE Ann Tolar Cheshire Jenni - No worries at all - I was just kidding about the picture. It really did crack me up as it made me remember the whole scene as being a lot funnier with 20 years behind me. I mean, really, how much teen angst was I harboring to have gotten myself that worked up over a dance?!?! To tell the truth I was just honored that there were pictures of me at all :-) I think you did an excellent job putting together all the slideshows - both online and off. Heck, I think you're just an awsome chick all around. Ann 10/18/08 07:37 PM #176 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith Ann Right back at ya. Tell Monique we expect her to put pics up on her profile soon. I hope she and baby are doing well. Eddie and I started planning to go on this cruise in Feb of last year and it was so nice to get away. We went to the Bahamas, Half Moon Cay (a private little island that is part of the Bahamas) and Grand Turk. It was a 5 day cruise. We had a great time. Hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday as well. 01/15/09 11:09 AM #189 EDIT DELETE Monique Howard Johnson In case you all did not read Jenni's posting - we finally had a baby. Sunny Claire was born on Dec 28th at 8:03 AM. She was a little early, but everything was fine. She weighed 7 pounds and 10 oz and was 21 inches long and when she came out, the staff in the delivery room and nursery laughed so hard because she smelled just like Christmas cookies (must have been that bag of chocolate covered pretzels that I ate the evening before....) Sunny was a "light weight" compared to Sadie. We are all completely amazed at the newest little Johnson girl (and all a little sleep deprived too. Betty - a cruise sounds like a fantastic idea. Someone had an idea that we all should do a class reunion cruise in 5 years of so - I think it was Michael Belcher and his "pregnant" wife that had that idea...... You all take care and we hope that you had a wonderfully prosperous and blessed 2009. 01/23/09 02:19 PM #190 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith Lisa cooking a pork butt. http://www.wral.com/lifestyles/food/video/4387621/ 01/31/09 07:45 AM #191 EDIT DELETE Jenni Powell Keith Mrs. Powell was on the Kay Yow special last night. The Fuquay-Varina Centennial Commission (headed by Mrs. Shirley Simmons)is planning a Centennial Gala Celebration. It will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009. "The Centennial Gala will be a wonderful oopportunity for a class reunion or a group of classmates to return to town." Right now plans are not definite enought to give details. The venue is being decided currently and hours will be set soon. I have contacted them to get us on the mailing list. As soon as I receive more info I will let you know. Be thinking if this is something we would be interested in. It sounds like another reunion without the work! 03/13/09 01:10 AM #195 EDIT DELETE Betty Price Emerson Hey Reid, Hope you are doing better. I want to get by to see you, hopefully I can soon.
