McGeachie & Tucker Posted Saturday, June 23, 2012 06:02 PM Capt's McGeachie and Tucker were, in my not so humble opinion, two of the worst teachers RMA had to offer. Both were disfuncitonal human beings, who got their jollies burning cadets. I never had a class with either one but both of them managed to burn me at various times...can't remember what most were for now. They were both drunks and would take off in McGeachie's VW van, which cadets called "The McGeachie Mobile" most every evening and return in the wee hours of the morning, staggering drunk. Don't know where they went to drink because Hall County was dry at the time. One evening when we were down in Hollywood, Tucker confronted my roommate, William Greene, and I, as we were walking over to the movie. He was drunk, as usual, and said "go back" because we didn't have our hats on. So we went back to our room, put on our hats and headed back over to the chapel to see the movie. About half way thru the film, Tucker shows back up and calls us out. He charged us with "Direct disobedience of an order", because he said he'd told us to go back to our rooms and he ment for us to stay there. A DDO was like 50 demerits. A day or two later, we both went to Col. May's office, saying we wanted to appeal Tucker's demerits. May asked us what happened and we told him, also telling him that Tucker was very drunk. May didn't say anything much to us but said he'd look in to it. Next thing we knew, Tucker's 'burns' on us were dismissed and we never heard another thing about it. May knew Tucker was a drunk. Col. May always treated me fairly, even tho he didn't let me off the hook but that one time. |

RE: McGeachie & Tucker Posted Saturday, June 23, 2012 10:15 PM Yeah I recall those two and share the low opinion of them. As to Col.May...a good.tough and fair man in IMHO. I was obliged as Sergent of the Guard to spend the night in the office to do whatever it was I was supposed to do and in come Himself with some confiscated ice cream. We sat in his office, chatted and pigged out. What a moment! |
