Baseball was his first love as he coached, managed, and umpired baseball players in the Gallup community.

His half-siblings, including David Gonzales and Jean Lloyd, and other half siblings (whose memorials are listed below), and his older half-brothers George Lloyd, Jr. and John Lloyd preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Joann of forty years, daughter Audrey, brother Kenneth Lloyd, and sister Joan Nichols.
As of 2019, he has one grandson.
On July 6, 2019, the city of Gallup unveiled signage and dedicated the Pee Wee Reese and Mickey Mantle Ball Fields at Ford Canyon Park in Gallup, NM, in his memory.
